Life was always full of expectations, some that you could reach and others that you couldn't. Annabelle Savoit however was always one of those people that overachieved at everything, making sure that she reached or even surpassed every expectation that was sent her way. She was always at the top of her class in school, whether it being elementary school, high school, university or med school, Annabelle was always number one no matter what, but that was probably because she had a eidetic memory and an IQ of 196 or even the fact that she was very competitive in everything she did, but that didn't matter anymore because she was now standing at the front of the hospital she was going to be working at with a lot more people just like her. Just as competitive as her, just as smart as her. Actually scratch that. Almost just as smart as her.
After a couple minutes the girl decided that it might be a good idea to head inside before someone might walk past her and think that she's just some type of weirdo for standing in front of a hospital, making no sounds or movements except for the mouvements of her chest going up and down with the rhythm of her breaths and heart beat that she was trying to slow down.
Upon walking in, Annabelle headed toward a nurses station where she found her I.D. badge sitting. She quickly picked it up before hearing a nurse speak. "You'll need to go straight down to your right then the second hallway to your left, you should then be able to find the room with the number 405 on it and that's where you'll be able to find the rest of your group." She said in a slightly annoyed tone, making the brunette frown slightly but covering it back up with a sweet smile.
"Perfect, thank you." She spoke before heading towards the direction that the nurse had given her just a few moments prior and quickly finding the doors that had a number plate next to it that marked '405' on it, meaning that she had found that location that she needed to find. Annabelle quickly took a deep breath before going through the doors and looking around to find some interns that she recognised from that night before from the intern mixer and the Chief of Surgery standing in front of everyone with his arms crossed in front of his chest before he looked at his watch and started speaking.
"Each one of you comes here hopeful. Wanting in on that game. A month ago you were in med school being taught by doctors. Today, you are the doctors." He said as a blond woman entered the area looking worried because she was late. He then opened a door to his left to show an O.R. and made a sign for the new interns to head inside to which they did. Annabelle looked around the room in awe, this O.R. seemed to have a certain feel of calmness to the other few she's been in, in the past and that was when she knew, she knew she was meant to be here in this moment in this time. Her thoughts were then interrupted by the Chief once again. "The seven years you spend here as a surgical resident will be the best and worst of your life. You will be pushed to your breaking point. Look around you. Say hello to your competition." He said, making all the eyes of the interns change their direction to look at each other. "Eight of you will switch to an easier specialty. Five of you will crack under the pressure. Two of you will be asked to leave. This is your starting line. This is your arena. How well you play? That's up to you." He finished looking around the room one last time and examining his new interns before leaving the room.
