Camilo's pov:

On the way to school I walked halfway with Mirabel and Antonio, but then they split off down a different road and the twins would join me after a few minutes.

When my prima and hermano left, I noticed it was down a different road.

I shrugged it off, maybe Mira just found a faster way.

"Hey amigo," Pedro greeted, and Mateo was beside him, saying "Hola,"

I grinned. "Hola gemelos (twins)."

Mateo glanced around. "She's not here." I informed him, smirking.

By she, I meant Mirabel. Over the last month of summer, I had noticed Mateo catching feelings for her. He was a little more vocal when she was around, making himself known. That was fine by be, cause they kind of completed each other. It would be cool to see them in a relationship.

He blushed, and grumbled, "I don't know who you're talking about."

Pedro swung an arm around his brother's shoulders. "Sure you do, and you need to make a move, hermano. Mirabel's oblivious to you."

He shrugged him off. "Guys, quit it. I'll make a move when I'm ready, but it's only the second day of school, and I don't want to creep her out."

"There's no harm in talking to her." I said.

"Or throwing papers at her." Pedro added, and I glared at him.

"Ugh not this again, you know it's not like that, she's just fun to bother."

He rolled his eyes. "Whatever you say, Cam-cam."

"Well we all know you like Anna." Mateo remarked, mentioning a tall girl from our class.

The louder twin smirked, "Na, I'm more into older women- like Camilo's Abuela."

I cringed, "Pedro, gross." I said, but he just shrugged.

"Hey, I like what I like."

When we reached the bus stop, we were the first one's there, along with Cleo, who kept her distance.

In the distance I saw Antonio and- wait, was that Diana? They were racing to where I stood.

Wait, so that means-

It finally clicked. Mirabel had memorized the route to the Cortes' house, so she and Antonio met Carmen and Diana there.

As if to prove my point, I saw mi prima and Carmen walking together, and I heard them laughing from here.

Well, they got on quickly. I noted privately.

It wasn't a dynamic I saw coming, but thinking about it now I wondered why they weren't friends beforehand.

They both knew what kind of people to surround themselves with, and naturally they gravitated towards each other, them both being good people (at least in my book).

I watch them interact with each other, and Carmen had something that made Mirabel roll her eyes, smiling anyways. The baker continued talking, and Mirabel slapped her arm, giggling.

"Careful Camilo, you're staring." Pedro said over my shoulder, and I snapped out of my thoughts.

"Oh shut it." I grumbled, turning my back to the girls.

The bus ride was boring, with me all by myself in the back, while Pedro was chatting it up with Anna in the seat in front of me.
