"An ako" derived in Bisaya word meaning, "Ang aking"
Mirasol – a Spanish word for "Sunflower."
Sunflower – adoration, loyalty, and longevity.
— It is Rooted in 2 Greek words "helios," meaning sun, "anthos," meaning flower.
— Tendency to reposition itself to face the sun.
— Apollo and Clytie's story— it explain why sunflowers turn towards the sun.
Clytie is a nymph who adored Apollo so much. At first, Apollo loved her back, but he fell out of love. His love turns towards Leucothoe. Because of jealousy, Clytie told Ochamus (Leucothoe's father) of the relationship between Leucothoe and Apollo. And by that, Ochamus punished Leucothoe by burying her alive.
Apollo went there, but he was too late to save the love of his life. Because of his anger as revenge for his love for Leucothoe, he turned Clytie into a flower.
But even though Clytie is in flower form, she still loved him and would spend her days watching him as he moved the sun across the sky in his chariot. And just like the sunflower, Clytie always faces the sun, watching the love of her life.
Just like this book, it portrays so much Adoration— the feeling of deep love; like if you adore or deeply love someone, you can describe that feeling as adoration— it's the feeling Romeo had for Juliet.
And when you go deeper to the extent you internalize every chapter, you'll realize the essence of love— it's like a deep-deep love and respect for a certain person— whether you end up to each other or separate ways.
We all have a different story to tell. It's up to you to give meaning to the moments of Mirasol's life.
