As soon as Meg left Marina was released from the wall and ended up falling into Castiel's arms. She was quite embarrassed since no man had ever touched her like this, but at least she hadn't fallen on the floor.
"Are you alright?" Castiel asked her.
"Me forget about me she just took your grace away," Marina answered. "Are you okay?"

"I don't know I'm not able to heal myself," Castiel answered. "The last time I was human another angel stole my grace and I fell onto the pavement," he finally let go of her after that. His neck was bleeding and Marina was concerned since the wound wasn't closing up.
"Cass you need help," Marina said to him.
"No I..." He trailed off and nearly passed out.
"Okay we need to get you home," Marina said grabbing onto his arm.

Minutes later Marina burst through the door of Castiel's house, Claire looked at her in shock.
"What are you doing here?" Claire asked. She forgot her question once she saw Castiel half dead on Marina's shoulder. "Castiel!" She exclaimed running over to him. "Oh my gosh what happened to you?"
"Demon," Castiel answered softly. He passed out after that and Claire called out for Jack. The nephilim was at her side instantly and laid the unconscious Castiel on the couch.

"Jack what's wrong with him?" Claire asked tears running down her face. Jack couldn't fell any angelic power from Castiel which meant that his grace had been taken. That also meant that Castiel was now human and that was bad. Well the process wasn't fatal like it was for him, if they didn't get Castiel's grace back. He might grow old and die, angels lived forever so without that power. There was only so much time before Castiel began aging until he died.
"His grace has been stolen," Marina said before Jack could answer.

"Did you take it?" Claire asked giving Marina a fierce glare.
"No it was the demon Meg," Marina answered. Claire scoffed like she didn't believe her words which confused the older woman. "So you don't believe me?"
"Why should I, I don't need a new mother," she said firmly. Marina looked hurt and Jack scolded her for being disrespectful.
"Claire enough, we need to find a way to fix this," Jack said to her.
"I know I'll start looking for a spell to keep him going," Claire answered. "We are not done with this discussion," she pointed at Marina as she walked away.

"I'm sorry," Jack said once Claire was gone.
"No don't be I get it," Marina answered. "She probably thinks I'm the one who did it," deep down she knew that wasn't the reason at all. She was smart and figured that Claire wasn't willing to accept her adopted father's girlfriend.
"Its not that," Jack said reading her thoughts. "Will it sort of is but it more about Claire's mother,"
"What do you mean?" Marina asked. Jack sighed and wondered if he should share the personal information Claire had trusted him with.

"Claire's biological father is the vessel Castiel uses," Jack explained. "He is long dead since he got stabbed by a demon, but her mother left her,"
"She just left?" Marina asked in complete shock.
"Yeah dropped her off at her grandmother's house and never came back," Jack answered. "When Claire's grandma died she was moved around so much and got in lot of trouble," he continued. "She started stealing and ended up getting caught multiple times,"

Marina took all this information in and now understood why Claire acted the way she did. The abandonment of her mother was still too fresh and couldn't accept another woman into her life. Especially if that woman wanted to be with her only guardian left.
"So how she end up with Castiel?" Marina asked.
"I only know that he came across Claire when she was sixteen and saved her," Jack explained. "She decided to become a hunter and was adopted by another family," he continued. "I don't know what happened to them, I just know that once Cass found her," he kept going. "She begged him to never leave her as well,"

"Thank you Jack," Marina said. "Keep an eye on him, I'm going upstairs,"
"She won't talk to you," Jack cautioned. Marina knew that but she at least had to try, Claire didn't have to like her. But if they were going to find Castiel's grace then they needed to work together. Forgeting all of her doubts from before, it didn't matter if her feelings came out. If she lost him before getting the chance to be with him, she would never forgive herself. Jack seemed to understand her by her silence and said he would tell her once Castiel woke up.

"Claire?" Marina asked as she walked up the stairs and stumbled across the first bedroom. It was a decent sized room with a twin bed, a desk, a shelf full of lore books, and a chest full of weapons. Among all the clutter there was a closet full of clothes and stuffed grumpy cat resting on the pillow. Claire was looking through a large book and listening to something through her headphones.
"What are you doing in my room?" Claire asked once she saw Marina.

"I just thought you and I could work together," Marina answered. Claire flipped her blonde hair and turned back to her book like she hadn't heard Marina. "Look I know you don't like me, but we need to work together,"
"You can't understand how much I dislike you," Claire answered immediately. "I've already lost my father and I'm about to lose another one because you of you," she continued. "And I don't need a new mother, I've gotten along fine without a mom,"
"If you can't put up with me can you at least do it for Cass?" Marina asked.

"Fine but as soon as we fix him I want you to leave," Claire responded. "My dad doesn't need a girlfriend," Claire closed the door in Marina's face after that.
"My gosh," Marina said to herself. She walked away from Claire's room and back downstairs where Castiel was waking up. "Cass!" She exclaimed happily and hugged before he realized what was going on.
"I was just about to come get you," Jack said. He felt a little out of place watching them hug.

"This feels very nice," Castiel commented hugging Marina back. He liked that she was close to him and hearing her voice made his insides turn. Jack figured it would best to let them have a moment, so he left but he smiled since he loved the idea of having a mother. While Claire didn't want one at, Jack had always wanted one since his mother had died giving birth to him.
"Yeah I know," Marina told him. "You scared me back there,"
"I'm sorry I didn't mean to," Castiel answered. He felt different without his grace almost fragile and a bunch of other things.

Marina told him it was fine and let go of him, blushing hard. They had  hugged before but never like this so it was new territory for them. It wasn't the friendship hug that they gave their friends after a hunt, it was a I thought I lost you forever hug. That was shared mainly with romantic partners, neither of them wanted to say it. But at the moment the two basically became a couple. No words were said and no questions were asked, something that should have been terrible had brought them closer.

"I don't how this work," Castiel admitted.
"What works?" Marina asked him.
"Being a human, I remember being one briefly but I never understood what it was really like," he answered. Marina grabbed his hand and he didn't reject the gesture, it made the feeling in his stomach return.
"I don't either," she told him. "But I can teach you,"
