So we'll just start with chapter 1&2 where Hamish is trying to apologize already. He's already accepting that he screwed up. He's trying to apologize. Vera's annoyed by his constant presence, but he is there.

Chapter 3 – Vera tells Hamish she's pregnant. Hamish is horrified.

Hamish is shocked. Horrified is Vera's word choice. But can you blame him?

Vera shifted in her chair. "And this," she said, gesturing over him, "is why I'm telling you now. I don't plan to tell anyone else until I have to, but you need time to school your reactions." She huffed softly. "The last thing I need is the Council finding out I fucked a werewolf and got pregnant," she muttered to herself. The Council was barely on her side about inducting them in the first place.

Hamish flinched at her muttering and Vera eyed him, unamused. She was pregnant, even if it wasn't what either of them had intended. She'd repeat the word for an hour if it would make him stop flinching at the thought.

Hamish flinched at her muttering. He did not flinch at the word pregnant. He flinched at the "I fucked a werewolf" and how that is how Vera viewed what happened between them. And then Vera proceeded to tell him she's known for a whole month, she wants nothing to do with him, and she's only telling him because she wants to be sure he's quiet about it. Vera is so angry with him still, and he can see that, that speaking up right then, when his mind is still spinning over the idea of her being pregnant in the first place, is pointless. Vera was not in the mindset to hear anything from Hamish.

Chapter Four – The Sonagram

Hamish arrives to their meeting early. He's noticed Vera wasn't on campus that morning. He's wanting to talk to her, but she dismisses his interest as a wolf stalking its prey and immediately throws a book at him and tells him to start reading it.

When Hamish comes up to her desk to get the book, he sees her bag fallen over and the sonagram lying there and can't help but look.

There was a slew of emotions playing across his face, but mostly he just looked nauseated.

Vera clenched her jaw as she stormed over to him. She'd already given him his out. There wasn't anything more she could do to make him feel better about his mistake in sleeping with her. Her baby existed and if he wanted to forget about that, he could simply not go through her things.

She snatched the picture from his hand before he even realized she was there. "Yes, that's your baby," she sarcastically snapped. "You could at least try not to look like someone just killed your puppy."

Vera recognized that there were multiple emotions, but chose to only see the nauseated look. And yes, he did feel sick. Because he's looking at a picture of his baby and realizing he's never going to be allowed to see more than that if Vera stays mad at him. This is the point he realizes he has to do something drastic to earn her trust back. This is when he decides his best option is just fixing what they did and getting their inventory back.

Vera immediately cancels their meeting and tells him to get out.

Chapter 5 – The Knights go after Praxis

Vera has started thinking the Knights have run away, before she's even started looking for them. She never stopped to think maybe something was wrong, even with Alyssa telling her they wouldn't have just run and something must have happened. So she's already viewing them negatively from the start.

When she does find them, and sees that some of their missing belongings are in the room, she immediately jumps to the conclusion that they were pulling one over on her and were trying to get their stuff back so they could run.
