it's been a few days since then, training has continued on as usual and your preparation for starting school was alright.
things have been quiet, most likely because you've only been going out for shopping or training and the rest of your time is spent within the old man's mansion.
though one odd thing was that ijin wasn't present in the last training session. you simply assumed he was assigned with another team and moved on with the rest of your day.
"miss ( y/n ), the ceo is calling for you." the voice comes from behind your room, "he's waiting in the dining room."
"alright, i'm going."
---
"you noticed yu ijin's absence in training, yes?" he seems hesitant to talk.
"..yes...?"
"the lieutenant who brought him back into the country was cornered into a dangerous situation and yu ijin had requested to be drafted there."
"what..what do you mean?"
eyebrows furrowing, you grip on the back rest of the chair as you stare at the ceo of the group.
he looks guilty, but unregretful of his late deliverance of the news that yu ijin had gone back into the battle feild.
"...bring me to him."
"( y/n ), it's too late to—"
"i said bring me to him."
he sighs, the crease in the middle of his eyebrows further irritating you. "just give me a moment to talk, ( y/n )."
you scoff before aggressively sitting yourself on the seat, crossing your arms and your legs, "fine. tell what you have to say old bastard."
"he left a half a day ago. he's returning soon."
"..oh."
he's surprised with the way your body immediately relaxes, the previous panic in your face settling down as you slump into your chair.
just how much did the boy mean to you?
he wonders what you've gone through together, what kind of situations you've pulled through just to create such a bond where the simple news of yu ijin, a professional mercenary, is going back into the battlefield immediately pulls you into overdrive.
"notify me immediately when he arrives. i want to make sure he's alright with my own eyes."
"of course. again, i apologize for the delay"
"it's alright. i heard old farts nowadays tend to have shit memory."

the school is larger than you'd anticipated, hundreds of students blending into crowds and chattering amongst their friends.
"this is the new student that'll be joining us today. just like our recent student before, she's lived abroad due to personal reasons so please help her adjust to her new life."
you bow, "it's a pleasure."
"go ahead and sit on the empty seat over there."
you nod and follow as she says, greeting ijin— who's seated behind your assigned chair–with a smile. he greets you back with a small smile and a nod.
whispers echo around as you walk towards your seat, some are compliments, some are excited claims of having a new addition to the friend group.
you hang your bag on the side of the hair before settling down, taking out the topic notebook and your pencil case.
you feel a tap on your shoulder, opting for your attention so you turn and meet eyes with ijin, who discreetly hands you a note.
taking it with confusion, you open the small paper to find a neat and clean handwriting. 'i heard you were worried about me.'
'ah, the ceo must have called him.'
quietly ripping a piece paper, you write, 'yes. i was surprised and angry when i heard you returned' before folding it and handing it behind you.
ijin grabs the note before writing down a reply.
shin yuna watches the interaction between both of you with confusion. ijin had always been a good student so seeing him secretly exchange notes with the new student was something that shook her a bit.
goh sukjoo had the same reaction. for someone so uptight and serious as ijin, he didn't expect this situation at all.
first time they'd seen you, you were on par with yu ijin's skills when it came to all assets in training.
and now you were here, effectively breaking his character.
just who were you and where did you come from?
──────⊱⁜⊰──────
shortly after the lunch bell rang, shin yuna and sukjoo were quick to introduce themselves and ask to stay with you and ijin for lunch.
now, you were chattering away in the cafeteria, sharing tea, telling each other your favourite type of movies and such.
"( y/n ), it's ( favorite piece of dish )." ijin calls out, making an 'ahh' sound and feeding you the piece.
happily taking the food in your mouth, savouring the flavor as you chew, yuna and sukjoo give you and ijin the same look dayun and her grandpa had given you when you fed ijin the vegetable.
"a-are you guys dating?" sukjoo asks, making you nearly choke on your food.
"w-what?" ijin pats your back as you cough a few times before regaining composure.
"what makes you say that?" ijin asks, continuing to eat his meal unaffected by the question.
"it's just that..." yuna hesitates, "you fed her your food and.."
"( favourite dish ) is ( y/n )'s favorite so i thought i'd give it..is sharing food considered rude in korea?" ijin explains, visibly guilty.
"it's not like that at all! sharing food nowadays is just more common among couples.." yuna rushes out, flailing her hands around in fluster.
"ah..okay.."

( after school )
"fuck! get that brat!"
the agression in the voice catches your attention, making you turn your head towards the sound to see a group of students chasing after a boy with a smaller frame.
"hn."
the bigger group share the same school uniform, most likely a gathered gang planning to target another gang, you're not too sure just yet.
if your eyes work finely, you're sure the little boy that had run away and hid was wearing the same uniform as you are, so perhaps they may be after shinan high school.
quietly slipping through alleyways, you get to a spot where you can hear the possible gang members much more clearly.
"incheon says to return to the base"
"fuck, that bitch is good a hiding!"
'the hell is their problem?'
