gun shots rings through your ears as you watch the men charging towards the team leader drop down like flies, blood oozing out of their wounds.

'those two shot these men without any hesitation..' team leader stares in shock, regretting the fact that he had underestimated both you and ijin.

then, he recalls the conversation he had with the other team's leader.

leader of team 3, you think so too?
those two highschool kids...

professionals?

you watch with a smile as tens of swat teams arrive, fully equipped with bulletproof armour and guns.

yes, i think so, too.

"it's been a while. i feel like i'm a bit rusty." you lean towards ijin, lowering your voice to ensure no one would hear you.

the taller male shakes his head, "you're just as skilled as before." patting your head in assurance, he continues, "the spar we had before had me a little nervous."

you chuckle, "as you should have been. anyway, we should report the situation."

a group the team surrounds you and ijin to ask about the situation on cue, so you both cooperate. "Another one of the kidnappers are inside and..."

shin yuna watches the interaction you and ijin had with the officers, an indifferent look on her face.

"go treat those two kids first. i'm fine"

someone taps your shoulder and you turn after finishing up your report, "yes?"

"please stay seated. we will begin your treatment."

"ah..of course."

"how are the both of them?"

shin jiyeh turns to her trusted bodyguard, "any serious injuries?"

"the two claim to be fine, but they are needed to be taken to the hospital for further checkup. ( y/n ) ( l/n ) has a bullet wound and her nails have been scraped off clean."

her eyes widens before she rushes off to your direction, a few men in suits following after her. "are you alright?" she questions in genuine worry.

just like ijin, you were still a high schooler.

"ah, i'm fine! just need to patch up my wounds and i should be able to guard again tomorrow." you assure her, wincing when the doctor tightens up the bandage on your leg.

"that's not what i.." she huffs in frustration, "whatever, just make sure you get healed properly.." there's a slight pause in the air as comical question marks appear above your head at the hesitation to say something.

"thank you." she walks away with a guilty look in her face.

"i didn't know that sw would bring such a monster."

it's one of the perpetrators, the woman who'd shot you. she sits in the interrogation room, hands cuffed with an angry look in her face.

"monster?"

"mercenary jin and mercenary x."

the man does not answer.

"with both of them in the way, i couldn't finish the job." within the anger in her face, there is a look of fear mixed. her teeth are gritted as unwanted memories run through her head.

"no, i wouldn't have taken this job in the first place."

"i dont understand what you're talking about." just as he was instructed, he acts clueless.

"don't even pretend that you don't know. those two usually hide their faces but, i immediately knew when i saw his eyes and heard her mocking because i've met them before." she remembers the way you tauntedly waved the loaded gun in her face,

"about half a year ago, he laid low and stopped recieving any orders. rumours say that he received serious injury and died or just retired.

a similar thing happened the following months after. mercenary x was reported to be dead after an ambush, or she fled and is in critical condition. but to think sw hired those two...i'm lucky to be alive.

no one has ever left painlessly or alive when those two are together in the battlefield."

"you keep saying nonsense. i obviously also heard rumours about that mercenary. if you think about it, does it make sense that actice top mercenaries will be working in such a place doing security work?" he fights on with acting oblivious.

the ceo had strictly instructed him to make sure the woman is convinced that neither mercenary jin nor mercenary x are in korea or even alive.

the woman doesnt respond, knowing that even if she insists, he would continue to deny it.

"

( y/n ), i have takeout." ijins voice soothes you as you groan, blinking your eyes open and sitting up from the hospital bed.

"ijin? aren't you supposed to be in bed?" you watch as he gently sets the food down on the table next to your bed before sitting down on the chair in front of it.

he doesn't respond and opens the packed food, taking a spoon and fork before gathering the dish and hovering the spoon in front of your lips.

you sigh, complying to his unspoken demands and opening your mouth to have him feed you.

"the doctor allowed me to leave. i stopped bye my house before getting food and coming back here." ijin decides to explain, seeing the irritation on your face.

you chew and swallow the food before responding, "you still shouldn't be moving around. didn't you break a rib?"

"i'm fine. you have broken ribs too, so you shouldn't sleep on your stomach."

"eh, fair point." you nod lightly before continuing to let him feed you.

"oh, by the way, that girl—"

bang!

the door hits the wall and bounces back from the impact, a tired looking shin jiyeh standing in the doorway.

you and ijin stare at her in surprise, wondering what had gotten her so riled up.

"i have more to say, why did you leave as i was talking?" she asks, pertaining to ijin while crossing her arms.

eh? did he really leave in the middle of a conversation?

"the food would get cold if i didn't hurry." ijin responds confidently, placing dont the spoon on a clean surface.

"..you hurried off just to feed her warm food?"

"..???yes?"

you awkwardly chuckle, "ijin.."

"ugh." the director puts a hand up to massage her aching temples.
