"Kwan we shouldn't do this.. He is our only child! We can't possibly do such a brutal thing to him that could destroy his whole future!"
"Ara we have no other choice, we are not only parents but also guardians of our tribe. If our tribe is in danger, do you really think that our son could live happily in this village with a spirit going around terrorizing everyone?! It's better to get rid of it in such a way so that the village can live normally. Always remember: Needs of the many always out weigh the needs of the few! It's better to let him carry the name and burden than let the whole village carry it!"
"I always wondered what kind of a person could do such a thing. Now that I see you, I think I understand. I'd rather die fighting to protect the village rather than cowering away. No one can touch my son while I'm alive." Ara stated with a sharp look fixed in her eyes.
"Fine then! Have it your way! Let's go fight the spirits none of us can defeat and start counting down to our own impending doom! Let's go!"
They fought infront of a newborn boy who was asleep soundly in his cradle. Those were the final words they said to each other. They head of to battle after letting the queen know about their plans. But Kwan knew they were not going to make it out alive but he also knew his wife's stubborn nature. He had given their son to the queen and asked her to make sure that if they did not make it, the spirit would be sealed in him.
The black spirits engulfed the villagers, slowly and painfully sucking their souls out leaving them to crumple and falling down with their white, frail and shocked faces. But as the main threat came closer to them, the air around them got colder. The spirit was not like the others. It was electric blue and sea green in colour. And as if it was child's play, it slowly engulfed the people and moved on after simply killing them. The spirit reached the head of guardians Kwan and Ara. The queen stepped in slowly after Kwan and Ara had also been trapped in the smoke.
"You shall not harm my tribe anymore!" The queen raged as she spoke sermons which dragged the spirit towards the boy wrapped in his blanket, making it glow even brighter as she finally sealed it inside the boy. Thus mutating him into a savage, selfish, pathetic, freakish monster in the eyes of the villagers. An infant who didn't even know how to speak was forever cursed just for the sake of his tribe and that too at the cost of the whole world crumbling down on him.
After the spirit was sealed away, the black mist which had engulfed the night sky started to fade. The crimson ground and the clear skies with stars encrusted in it indicated the end of the battle. And the end of an innocent life.
The warriors and guardians who lost their lives in the tragic battle were given a proper funeral and the villagers thanked the dead while they spoke highly of the chief guardians for protecting them from the evil spirits. While the baby laid in his cot completely forgotten and shunned away from the village in a cold room of the queen's palace with a servant rocking him to sleep.
