Chapter 2

"This nightmare I have every night"

The boys nibbled on the food they were given. A plate of corn for Beomgyu and Hyuka, a small dish of shrimp for Taehyun, a small dish of dried fruits for Yeonjun and some small dried fish for Soobin. Yes, we might consider them malnourished because that's all the food they got for the whole day, but might I remind you that in the conditions that the boys are surviving in, they were very grateful for the food they got. It is true that the boys were very tired but what could they do? They ate what they got trying to save some of the food they got for later. It was quite peaceful in the dorms until all of them looked up at the same time and their eyes filled with fear. Yes, they heard the monstrosities coming towards their dorm. They placed the remaining food in the safety of their "beds" (if you can call them those when they are literally just three dirty mattresses placed on the ground) and then backed up against the wall with their hands raised.
And on que, the doors opened making the boys flinch. 2 men walked in and grabbed Yeonjun by his throat choking him momentarily while the others kept their heads down, avoiding the situation of looking at their brother being choked. The other man took this opportunity to tie his arms together and then dragging the yellow haired boy out.
The boys quietly changed getting ready for whatever they might have to do for the day.
Later that day, the boys entered the dorms one by one and went to the shower room. Yeonjun was still not back which was quite concerning considering that they were restricted from stepping outside the dorms after 12 am unless someone personally gets them out. They looked at the small clock they were provided with to stay on time. 11:58. They decided to stay put and only go out in search for their brother after 12:30 am. They tried to calm their nerves and get some shut eye, but they couldn't. Well obviously.
12:10.
12:25.
Yeah, now they were all wide awake, adrenaline coursing through their bodies and sleep long forgotten. They prepared the blanket dummies and placed them on the mattresses and slowly sneaked out.
They divided into teams, Soobin and Hyuka, Gyu and Taehyun. Soobin and Hyuka slowly entered the closest workroom to find nothing but equipment and tools while the other two kept watch.
Finding nothing, they got out of the workroom and started heading towards the other ones. When they suddenly heard hushed voices.
"Just one vial of his blood can get us millions due to its properties. How much do you think we'll get out of the flesh?"
"Dunno, but working with his body was satisfying. He didn't even protest a bit let alone scream in pain. I am looking forward to working with that one again Ma'am."
The boys were certainly very alarmed hearing this. All the gruesome images clouding their heads. Soobin and Taehyun were the first ones to snap out of it and the rest followed. They made it into the biggest and the most cruel workroom of all. What they saw made them whimper and shiver in fear.
They saw a passed out Yeonjun on an operation table, with his wrists, ankles and neck chained tightly to the table restricting any possible movement. Crimson red droplets were dripping down the edge of the table. They moved closer only to see a horrifying sight. Chunks of flesh from Yeonjun's thighs were missing. Gone.
"Hyung? Get Kai back to the dorms. We'll manage the chains and get him back.."
Beomgyu told Soobin as they saw Kai shivering and slowly starting to panic. The brutal effects of PTSD. Soobin simply walked over and embraced Kai, offering all the warmth he could as he slowly walked out of the room and went to their dorm and started calming the poor boy down.
Meanwhile Beomgyu and Taehyun had freed Yeonjun from his restraints.
"Hyung... Hyung what is happening to Yeonjun hyung's thigh wound... Why is it secreting purple sap... And is it just me or does his flesh seem to be growing back?"
"Tae, I honestly don't know what's happening but it seems like Yeonjun hyung has regenerative powers as well.. I don't know why he didn't tell us or did he even know?"
"I don't think he knew but his body was probably triggered by the... Extreme things he went through to regenerate.."
They worked silently as they checked the corridors.
"Okay then, Beomgyu hyung, you take his upper body, gently make sure not to touch his wounds even though his whole body is covered with them, but you get what I mean. I'll take the lower body."
"1.. 2... 3!"
The boys hoisted Yeonjun and walked off.
Reaching there dorms, they entered quietly after they saw a sleeping Hyuka. Today must've been exhausting for him...
Soobin spotted them and stopped stroking the youngest's hair and rushed over to help carry the oldest to one of the mattresses.
"What's with the purple sap?"
"Soobin hyung, I think his body found this power after the things that he went through today. It was a classic trigger thing. We think it's regenerative power. His flesh is growing back you see?" Taehyun pointed out.
Soobin did notice and fixed him up. They ate the remaining food they had and decided to go to sleep even if they were all covered in blood.

Soobin and Beomgyu woke up due to the sudden shivering and muttering of Hyuka, who was in between them. Hyuka muttered incoherent things. No one could make out anything till the time they noticed tears and his voice getting louder.
"PLEASE STOP! PLEASE!"
They looked alarmed and tried to wake Huening Kai up while hugging him tightly. Taehyun woke up due to the scream while Yeonjun was still out cold. Taehyun was somewhat surprised to see the scene infront him but he still comforted the boy nonetheless.
Hyuka finally woke up and broke down in tears, sobbing, while trying to muffle his sounds on Soobin's shoulder.
"It was them again, wasn't it." Beomgyu spoke suddenly.
All the got was a nod for an answer.
