Yo, future author here. Made this book 2 years ago, so my writing improved a LOT. In the process of editing and making it better, sorry for any changes. Enjoy🩵

Eddie's POV
A low, buzzing noise sounded from beside me. It was just enough to make my eyes flutter open, wondering what was causing that. The warm covers begged me to fall back to sleep, to not fight against drowsiness clinging to my eyelids.

The buzzing stopped, followed by a small ding of my phone going off. It must've been at least five in the morning, and I groaned. "What the hell..." I sat up in drowsy confusion, still too tired to figure out what was going on. I glanced at my sleeping boyfriend beside me, his soft snores continuing at its usual pace. He had his back faced to me, so I couldn't see his face. I rubbed my eyes with a yawn, pausing for a moment as I tried to gain my bearings.

I stretched out my arm towards the cellphone on our bedside cabinet, yawning again as I turned it on. The bright, white screen made me squint, the text blurry for a few seconds before coming into focus.

"Three missed calls from Gaege?" I scratched my head, tapping on the notification as I said under my breath, "Why the fuck is Gaege up so early?" I glanced back at Mully again, who hadn't moved. I gave him a soft kiss on the forehead before standing, slipping on the black, wooly slippers that Mully always made fun of me for wearing.

Softly closing the door behind me to disturb Mully, I walked into the cold hallway, making my way into the living room. The windows were covered in a white layer of frost, and the icy wind seeped through the cold glass. I had forgotten that the cold front was supposed to come in. I hadn't expected the winter storm to come in so early.

The rays of moonlight were the only source of light besides the small phone in my hand, and I quickly turned on a lamp before I could spend too long in the dark. I had played way too many horror games to feel comfortable alone in the dark.

I waited for Gaege to pick up the phone, staring out the window as I patiently sat on the couch. The trees were blowing against the rough wind, their branches dancing in tune with the cold front. Our street was dark and empty, and no cars passed by as I waited.

"Hello?" I then heard his voice, making me bring my attention back to the phone.

"Gaege! You called?" I asked, fidgeting with the sleeve of my hoodie.

"Yeah, about that..." His voice sounded grim and lifeless, and I furrowed my eyebrows in concern.

"Is everything alright?" I asked, hearing him pause before sighing.

"Eddie, I'm sorry that I called this late," He answered as I listened intently. "I just really need somewhere to stay right now. I would've called someone else, but nobody bothered to pick up the phone."

"Sure you can stay with us!" I responded, "But what's wrong? You sound really... stressed." I didn't want to mention the fact that we hadn't spoken in a while, especially when Gaege had called me in the middle of the night while it was snowing.

Gaege and I used to be really close but went our separate ways after we both got partners. He started dating a really pretty girl, and I started dating Mully. We suddenly couldn't find time for each other anymore, but I pushed that thought out of my head.

The sigh that followed my question was tired and sad, and I couldn't understand what was happening to him. "It's about my girlfriend..." Gaege stifled a small sob, "We broke up and I need somewhere to stay. Please, it'll only be until I can find myself an apartment to stay on my own."

I was in shocked silence for a second before answering, "Hey, don't worry about it. You can stay with me and Mully for as long as you want. I can pick you up right now if you want."

"Are you sure?" Gaege said worriedly, "I can take the bus if you want and be out of your hair-"

"The bus?" I shook my head, "Fuck no. You are not taking the bus unless you want to die from the freeze. I'm picking you up right now, just tell me where."

Gaege was silent for a moment before saying, "Thank you, Eddie. Really. I really needed someone right now. I'm outside my house."

In a matter of fifteen minutes, I drove over to his house, making sure to turn the heater up all the way for him because I knew he hated the freezing cold weather. A fresh box of chocolate strawberries sat on top a checkered, wooly blanket in the passages seat. Somehow a hutch at the back of my head told me he'd enjoy them.

My eyes began to tear up when I saw him with a suitcase, wiping away his tears with the back of his hand. When he tossed the suitcase in the trunk and hopped into the driver's seat, I noticed him staring back at his old house with an unmistakable longing. His hazel eyes were clouded with red clouds of tears, and I realized he left the necklace his girlfriend had given him behind. The sparkling gold chain was sticking out in the snow, and Gaege's fists physically clenched at his sides. That necklace was his favorite.

"Are you okay?" I asked him, not getting a response. He looked away from the house, closing his eyes with a sigh. I put my hand on his shoulder, causing his hazel eyes to flicker up to me. "Come on, I'll make hot chocolate when we get home," I said as I started up the car again.

When we got home, I did as I promised and made a warm cup of hot chocolate. The white mug warmed my hands as I handed one to a relieved Gaege, who took a sip out of it gratefully.

"Gaege?" I heard someone say behind me, turning to see Mully staring at us with a puzzled expression. His hair was messy as he rubbed his eyes with a yawn, and I gave him a tight hug.

"Babe, this was last minute but Gaege needs somewhere to stay," I explained to him, glancing behind my shoulder at Juicy. "It will only be for a little while until we sort things out. Is that okay?"

Mully nodded with a small shrug, "Alright as long as it's fine with you." He gave me a soft kiss on the lips before heading off to the kitchen to make breakfast.

"You haven't told him have you?" Gaege then told me after a moment of silence, "About before?"

I kept my back to him, not daring to properly look at him over my shoulder. "Don't think I've forgotten, Eddie," Juicy says to me with an expression I couldn't read, setting down his cup of hot chocolate. I licked my lips nervously, glancing back at Mully, who was humming a happy tune in the kitchen.

"No." I looked away once I turned around, muttering under my breath, "I haven't."

Gaege crossed his arms, his face darkening as he argued, "You haven't told him we were dating before?"

I pressed my lips into a line at the thought of our previous relationship. I could tell Gaege was a little upset about it still, but I had chosen to forget about it a long time ago. I had moved on. Gaege was merely a friend to me. He knew this.

"Why would I tell him about us?" I answered with a frown, rubbing a hand over my face with a long sigh. "I'm over it already, alright? It doesn't matter anymore."

I walked away from him, shaking my head as I joined Mully in the kitchen. The aroma of fried egg filled the kitchen, and I hugged Mully from behind, making sure I was facing away from Gaege. "Eddie!" Mully giggled over the sizzling of the egg. "I wasn't expecting so much affection this early."

"Of course I'd give you affection, love!" I squeezed tightly, enjoying the warmth of his back against my chest. "My one and only."
