Chapter 11: Partner in Crime

A/N: Sorry for the late chapter, writing two books at once is hard lol. Anyway enjoy :)

Mully's POV
"Josh! Oh thank fuck you're awake!"
I pulled him into a tight hug, feeling Josh tense as he took a step back. "Woah, Woah. Hold up, mate. What the hell is going on?" He crossed his arms with a raised eyebrow, "And why are you soaking wet on my front porch?"
Tears were streaming down my face, but it was hard to notice as the icy rain began to pour harder. I coughed, sniffing before seeing Josh flash me a worried frown.
"Come on, let's get you inside," Josh said to me, gently grabbing my arm and leading me into the comfort of his warm home. "Don't want you to get sick now, do we?"
Shivering and still heartbroken about Eddie and Gaege, I hugged my arms, feeling more vulnerable than I ever had in my life. Josh didn't seem to judge me, however, only silently wrapped a fluffy blanket across my shoulders when I sat on the couch. I wiped my nose with the sleeve of my wet hoodie, and Josh sat beside me.
"What happened?" Josh brushed the wet strands of hair out of my face as he asked, "You look like shit."
"Wow, that helps me a lot, thanks." I rolled my eyes, suddenly growing angry at myself.
"I'm sorry, Mul. What's really bothering you? Is it between you and Eddie?"
I was silent when he asked me this, only staring at my hands miserably. "Oh... I'm so sorry Mully," Josh wrapped an arm around my shoulders, pulling me in for a comforting hug. "Hey, it'll be alright. Don't worry."
"Don't worry? Josh, that's all I can do right now!" I buried my face in my hands as I cried, "He cheated on me! With Gaege!"
Josh hesitated before saying, "Shit, that is really bad." I simply nodded, hearing him let out a sad sigh. "You can stay with me for as long as you like okay?" Josh rubbed my back with a small smile, "You're not alone. You can always come to me when you're in trouble."
I gave him a tight smile, thankful for his support. "You're an amazing best friend, you know that?" I hugged him, "What would I do without you?"
Josh laughed, "Ah, don't worry about it mate. Say, you need a shower and a change of clothes though."
I laughed a little, realizing that I was still soaking wet and shivering.
"Wait Josh..." I said quietly, looking down at my feet before continuing, "Do you think he'll come back for me?"
Josh's ocean blue eyes met mine, and I didn't know if the tears in his eyes were only a trick of the light. "I..." Josh swallowed a lump on his throat, "I don't know."
I pressed my lips a line as a tear fell down my cheek. I hugged my arms as I heard him add, "But Mully... if he truly loved you, he will come searching for you. And if he doesn't... then it just wasn't meant to be."
It just wasn't meant to be...
Those words hurt me more than anything, but I knew deep down inside they were true. Although the faint hope that I had of Eddie returning was still there. Yet it was fading quicker than I thought it would.
