{Hey hey hatchlings!! Here is the sequel to Song Of The Heart! We've got a lot in store for you, so enough of my ramblings! Wifey gets the odd chapters this time around, I'll be doing even}

"Mommy!" I turned, searching for the voice that kept calling out to me.

"Waylen!" I shouted, flying as fast as my wings would carry me, still searching for the frightened child. "Waylen, where are you?!"

After flying for what felt like hours, I finally spotted him. His messy black hair stood up all of his head, and his red eyes were large in fear. Dark blue scales stretched across his shoulders, down the tops of his arms to his elbows, and they dotted his face like freckles. Barely visible through his black hair were small black horns-not yet full-grown-and he had a black, whip-like tail to match. His white wings were stretched out as he tried to fly towards me. That's when I noticed what was causing him so much fear.

"Lucifer!" I snarled.

"Hello, little Geist," Lucifer smiled, pinning my son's wings to his back as he held onto him firmly.

"Let go of my son, you bastard!"

With a laugh that sent chills throughout my body, Lucifer plunged a dagger into Waylen's chest. "I told you I'd be back."

"Waylen!" I gasped, sitting straight up in bed. I put my hand over my pounding heart as I tried to catch my breath. It was just a dream, Levy.

"Everything alright?" Gajeel asked, rubbing at his tired eyes as he sat up. When he saw my state, he was immediately alert. "What happened?"

I shook my head, leaning against him. "Just a bad dream. Sorry to wake you."

"You sure?"

I nodded. "Since we're up, how about some breakfast? We can surprise Waylen," I smiled, getting out of bed.

"I'd rather stay in bed a little longer," Gajeel protested, wrapping his large arms around my waist and pulling back onto the bed.

I let out a small squeal, laughing as he planted kisses on my neck and chest. "Gajeel, Waylen will be waking up soon for school." With a sigh, he released me and followed me to the kitchen.

It had been twenty years since Lucifer's seal had been broken and re-sealed. After Gajeel had proposed to me on the last night of the band's very last tour, we had moved in together. Unfortunately, we hadn't been able to settle in and get comfortable immediately. Several powerful demons had managed to stay in the living world after the gate to the Underworld was closed, so we spent the next five years tracking them down and killing them. On top of that, Gajeel had returned to his duties as Mavis's right-hand, so there wasn't a lot of "us" time in the beginning. Once things settled down, Gajeel and I got married, and we had Waylen about two years after that.

He's going to be twelve soon, I thought to myself as I fried pancakes. I couldn't believe it. He had inherited Gajeel's hair, eyes, and wings, but he had inherited my horns and tail. He was also rather small like me, but Gajeel reassured him he'd grow once he matured a little.

"Morning, dad! Morning, mom!" Waylen called, rushing into the kitchen. His black hair was combed neatly, parting for the horns beginning to stick out. He had his wings tucked against his back as he took a seat at the table, and smiled at Gajeel. "Will you be going to work with Mavis today?"

Gajeel grinned. "Not with her, but for her. I can't go up to Heaven, remember?" He ruffled Waylen's har, chuckling when the boy shouted in protest.

Because Gajeel was with me, a demon, he could no longer return to Heaven. None of the angels who were with demons could anymore. Although he hid it well, I could tell that Gajeel missed it sometimes. He told Waylen all sorts of stories about the other angels, and especially of Mavis.

"Alright, pipsqueak," Gajeel grunted, "I need to get goin'."

"Will you be home later?" I asked as he kissed me on the cheek.

"I'll try," he said. "Laxus and I were going to Canada to hunt down another demon."

"And you're leaving me here to be bored all day," I teased.

"I love you," he told me, giving me a kiss on the lips before going out the door.

Once he was gone, I turned to Waylen. "Are you ready to go to school?" I asked.

His smile instantly fell, and his shoulders sagged slightly. "Do I have to go? I don't see why you can't home-school me. You're smart enough."

With a sigh, I sat in the chair next to him, meeting his eyes. "Why are you so against going to school all of a sudden? Everything was fine until last week."

"I just don't want to," he said, obviously hiding something from me.

"Waylen-"

"Nevermind," he told me, forcing a smile, "don't worry about it. I'll go get my backpack."

I stared down at my hands as I waited for him. Things had always been tough for us, considering Gajeel's and my frowned-upon wedding, and our "unnatural" child. It wasn't a secret that demons and angels alike hated us. Nor was it a secret that Waylen was treated differently than other demon or angel children. I knew whatever was bothering him had something to do with that, but I didn't know how to get him to tell me what it was.

He'll come to me in time. At least, I hoped he would. Waylen was one of the very first Hybrid children born, so things would never be easy for him. Especially when he's the hybrid child of Gabriel and the Geist who sealed Lucifer.

I put a smile on my face when he came back into the kitchen, and led him outside. As I spread my wings and took off into the air, I let out a small sigh. Mavis, if Waylen having a hard time at school, let him know he can talk to me about it.

I almost chuckled after I sent out the little prayer. Not long ago I was a hunted demon, always on the run from Lucifer's followers who wanted to use my to break their master's seal. And now, only twenty years later, my biggest problem was figuring out how to get my son to open up to me. It's funny how things can change, isn't it?

{Waylen is our love child. I love him so much.}
