~Gajeel~
"Morning dad," Waylen greeted me as he entered the kitchen, yawning. "Morning kid," I smiled, handing him his plate of breakfast. He waited patiently for me while I made Levy and myself plate, and together we made our way to the bedroom. It had been seven months now, and Levy was due any day. With her small stature, even being a demon, she couldn't get around easily with her large belly. Lucy has strictly told her to stay in bed as often as possible, and while she wasn't happy with it, Waylen and I made sure to spoil her rotten.
In the bedroom, Waylen sat on my side of the bed beside his mother while I sat at the foot of the bed in front of them. Levy had been reading, book propped up on her blanket covered mound, but she quickly abandoned it as I handed her her food. "You are wonderful," she said with a smile and I chuckled. "I try." The cause both Levy and Waylen to snort, and it was almost adorable who identical they looked doing it. We ate peacefully and Waylen talked to us about how the new school year was going. It had been a year since the incident with Lucifers followers, he was fourteen now, and he was having a better time at school. He had more friends now, though he and Karyn were attached at the hip, and he was doing wonderfully as he learned with his powers. His magic training had to be put on hold when Levy was five months along, no one wanting her to hurt herself.
Once we were done eating, Waylen took his usual spot snuggled up to Levys side, face pressed against her belly. He started doing it after we found out Levy was pregnant, and when asked, he would say he liked how she smelled. I didn't have his sense of smell but Levy confirmed, that when a woman is pregnant their smell is sweeter, but he wasn't around Lucy enough to recognize the smell when she was pregnant.
I stretched out at the foot of the bed and I watched them, Levy dragging one hand through Waylens hair while the other rubbed her stomach. Levy laughed as Waylen jumped slightly and frowned down at her belly, "Your sister is very active today." Waylen got a large grin on his face, "Do you think she'll be here today?" Levy hummed lightly, pushing long strands of his midnight hair out of his face. "Maybe. Mavis knows I'm ready for her to be here, and I know you are too." Waylen nodded eagerly. She had been feeling a lot of contractions lately, and it was making her exhausted.
"Well there's still some work that needs to be finished before she gets here. You ready Way?" Again he nodded, giving Levy a quick hug and a kiss on the cheek before hurrying out of the room. Levy laughed lightly as I moved up to take his spot and wrapped an arm around her shoulders. "That boy is something else," she nodded with a smile and leaned against my shoulder. "He's going to be a great brother," she said with a smiles, rubbing her hand on her belly. I lightly laid my hand on hers, my thumb rubbing her belly. After we sat for a moment I kissed the top of her head, "I'll be right in the other room alright?" She snorted, "Yes yes. Go on now. I want to see what the nursery looks like!" I laughed. Since being confined to the bed, Waylen and I had put together the nursery and hadn't let Levy see, wanting it to be a surprise. I gave her a quick kiss, as well as gently kissing her belly before I stood and left the room.
Right next to our room was the nursery, with Waylens room on the other side, easy access for either him or Levy and I. Inside the walls were painted a soft pastel orange, the trimming was white as were the crib and a new rocking chair. A dark wood dresser with a changing table sat to one side of the crib while the chair on the other, soft white curtains covered the windows and Waylen was putting the finishing touches on a toy chest. He wanted to make it himself, and he was so proud of how it turned out, he had even taken the time to carefully paint her name on the lid. There were only a few finishing touches left, and it took us an hour to finish. I had Waylen on my shoulders so he could attach the mobile above the crib when Levy called for me. I had barely set Waylen down when she called again and we hurried into the bedroom. She was laying back on the bed and her face was twisted as she rubbed her belly. Her eyes met mine and I knew immediately, the baby was coming. I looked down at Waylen, "I need you to go call Aunt Lucy." he didn't have to be told twice, immediately sprinting down the stair.
I moved over to Levy and she reached for me as I knelt beside the bed. I took her hand and immediately cringed as she gripped my hand. I whispered to her as I pushed hair out of her face, her grip tightening every now and then as she whimpered. It wasn't long before I could hear several people downstairs, Cana and Lucy were easy to make out, and I knew Karyn would be there to keep Waylen company. Cana and Lucy came in and quickly began to work around us, but I payed them no attention, only focusing on Levy. I kept talking to her, trying take her mind of the pain as she squeezed my hand harder. I was beginning to lose feeling in it.
"Gajeel I love you... But shut up..." Levy panted, causing Cana to laugh. I knew better than to argue with her in the state, I was at a risk of losing my hand at this point. "Alright Levy I need you to push." Lucy said. Levys grip on my hand tightened as she did as Lucy said, crying out in pain before stopping, breathing heavily as she laid back on the pillows. "Good. When your ready push again." I didn't know how long we were there, how many times Levy cried, how many times she threatened to kill me. "I hate you so much right now..." she whimpered at one point. "No you don't," I said with a small smirk. That was when she broke my finger again, and I stopped back talking her. It seemed like an eternity before Levy gave a final push and fell back, tears streaming as she breathed heavily. A new cry caught our attention.
I looked down to see Cana wrapping a blanket around the crying bundle as Lucy cleaned Levy up. Cana smiled as she brought the baby to us, carefully handing her to me. Just like with Waylen, I felt my breath catch and the world stop. She was beautiful, a thought that Levy spoke when she saw her. A tuft of dark blue hair sat on her head, somewhere between Levy and Waylens colors, and when she blinked up at us it was with hazel eyes. There were only a few bright blue scales along her cheeks and at her hair line. "She has Levys wings," Cana said gently as she sat at the end of the bed.
Levy carefully took her from me and I sat beside her, looking down at the two of them. I hadn't realized Lucy had left until Waylen was standing at the door, almost nervous. I looked up at him and smiled, motioning for him to come over. Once he was next to the bed I sat him between Levy and myself so he could see, and the look of awe on his face tugged at my heart. He brought his hand up and waved a finger at her. "Hi Ellie, I'm your big brother," he said quietly. Ellie cooed up at him, one tiny hand taking his finger and he immediately teared up. Levy and I smiled at him and I kissed his head. "Welcome to the family."
