I woke up to a large hand smoothing out my hair, causing me to hum softly. "Honey... It's Saturday." I groaned quietly. Gajeel chuckled slightly, kissing my cheek, "I know, but I'm in need of your assistance. Not that kind," he reprimanded softly as my hands began to wander. I pouted and finally opened my eyes to look up at him, my frown deepening when I saw he was already dressed. "Where are you going?" I asked, propping myself up on my elbow and rubbing my eyes. "We. We are going to India." I paused, "Huh?" Gajeel chuckled again, "I need you to go demon hunting with me. Mavis thinks it would be best if we team up with each other. Extra power and all."
I pouted again, "So it's not because you want me to go with you." Gajeel snorted, kissing me softly. "I always want you to go with me, but I want you to stay safe here. But," he frowned, his brows pulling together. "Things have been getting strange. Demons who normally wouldn't go near each other are now teaming up, working together. I was hoping to use your brain in trying to figure out why." I frowned as I slowly got up and stretched. "Well whose been teaming up?" I asked as I started pulling clothes out of the closet and getting dressed. "Yesterday it was a wendigo and a rakshasa." I paused pulling on my shirt, turning to give him a look. "My thoughts exactly," he snorted. I shook my head as I finished getting dressed, "That's not right. Wendigo are solitary, only made in extreme conditions and are quite rare. And Rakshasa barely tolerate each other. What the hell?" I muttered as I thought, hand on my chin. I was so deep in thought I jumped slightly when Gajeel nudge me, handing me my boots.
I muttered a thanks before pulling them on, "Are we going to leave Waylen with Cana then?" I asked as we headed for the kitchen. Gajeel shook his head, "No, Laxus is taking her. It gets extra teams out there. Lucy said she'd take the brats." I smiled and nodded. Lucy wasn't able to go on missions anymore, as she was expecting her own child. Natsu waited on her hand and foot, always making sure his wife was happy and taken care of.
In the kitchen, Waylen was already at the table, eating scrambled eggs and still in his pajamas. I looked at Gajeel, offered me a plate of eggs from the counter. "You got up really early today." He chuckled, "Mavis said it was urgent. Wouldn't let me sleep," we glanced up to the ceiling as we spoke, knowing she could hear us. "Where are you going dad?" Waylen asked as he finished his breakfast. "India on a demon hunt, and your mother is going with me. You will be staying with Karyn at Lucys today." Gajeel told him as I quickly ate my own breakfast. "What are you guys fighting?" He asked excitedly. Waylen had always been interested in the different types of demons and angels, he always had a thirst for knowledge. He even had a notebook he kept with a list of all the demons we told him about.
Gajeel grinned as he sat between us, "Know what an agramon is kid?" Waylen frowned slightly as he thought. "It's a demon of fear," Gajeel told him after a moment. "It creates horrifying visions to paralyze it's victims before killing them. This one has teamed up with a small group of Kostchtchie, death goblins. Nasty little things," Gajeel went on telling Waylen about the demons, and I frowned. Agramon are solitary creatures, picking off mortals in the dead of night. The fact that it would team up with a group of goblins didn't sit right and I couldn't seem to wrap my head around just why it would in the first place. I jumped slightly as a hand landed on my shoulder, brining me from my thoughts. "Kid went to get ready. You alright?" Gajeel asked, a small frown on his face. I shook my head, "Why would they team up? They are about as different as you can get." Gajeel pressed a kiss to my head as I continued to mutter. "That's why I need my brilliant why beside me. We'll figure it out," I smiled and nodded before standing.
Waylen came back in, trying to smooth down his unruly black hair as he went. I smiled softly and went to him, gently fixing his hair as he swatted at me softly. "Moooom," he whined slightly and I giggled. I ignored him as I continued straightening him out, unruffling a few of his feathers and placing a kiss on his cheek. I giggled as his face turned slightly pink and he hid behind Gajeel, "Stop tormenting the boy," he said with a chuckle, ruffling the hair I had just straightened out. I pouted as he grinned and lead Waylen outside, with me trailing behind. It was a short flight to Lucy and Natsus place, the three of us diving in and out of clouds as we went. Waylen landed in front of the small house, nestled deep in the woods away from the city. We often thought it a bad idea to live with a fire demon in a rather flammable area, but Lucy assured us it was safe. Waylen knocked excitedly on the door as we landed behind him, his tail flicking back and forth behind him. We could hear shuffling around inside before the door opened, "Huge!" Waylen gaped, his tail stilling in surprise.
