Fifteen Years Later
~Levy~
"They're late," I complained to Gajeel, pacing around the kitchen as I waited for the cookies to finish baking. "They were supposed to be here an hour ago."
"Calm down, Lev," Gajeel chuckled, pulling me into his arms to cease my pacing. "They'll get here when they get here."
"But-"
"Where the hell are those two?" Cana snapped, marching into the kitchen. "I'm going to kill them if they've gotten themselves into trouble!"
A sighing Laxus followed her, carrying a small brunette boy on his hip-their second surprise child after Karyn. He had arrived just four years ago, and had reduced even Laxus into happy tears when they'd found out they'd have another child.
"They haven't called you?" I asked, looking between Laxus and Cana.
"They're a newlywed couple, Levy," Laxus said, "it's not a big deal if they're a little late. Maybe the flight took longer than they expected."
"Waylen is never late," I frowned.
"Aunt Levy's mad," the boy at Laxus hip whispered.
"Don't worry about her, Eli, she's just worried about Waylen and your sister."
"Mom, you shouldn't be worried," Ellie chimed, moving blue bangs from her face, "Waylen called me a few minutes ago. They'll be here within the hour."
"Why didn't you tell me that before?!" Both Cana and I snapped.
Waylen and Karyn had finally tied the knot about a year before, but hadn't had time to take a honeymoon vacation thanks to their work with Mavis. A month ago, they had finally gotten time off, so the two of them had gone to Germany on an extended honeymoon. In celebration of their return, Cana and I had decided to throw a party for them. Except, we couldn't start the party without the two guests of honor missing.
"They're here!" Sicily and Neal, Natsu and Lucy's twins, called from outside.
I rushed outside, letting out a breath of relief as Waylen and Karyn landed in the front yard. "Where have you been?" I snapped, pulling Waylen into a tight hug as Cana did the same to Karyn. I knew Waylen could take care of himself, but he had never been away from home so long before, and it worried me. Sure, he and Karyn lived in a separate house now that they were married, but it was only a twenty minute flight from our house.
"We lost track of time in Berlin," he chuckled, squeezing me back. "I called Ellie. Didn't she tell you?"
"Not until just a few moments ago," I sighed, pulling away to look at him. "Did you have fun? "
A small blush crept onto his cheeks underneath the dark scales, "it was our honeymoon, mom, what do you think?"
"Isn't it cute how shy he is?" Karyn giggled, kissing him on the cheek.
Laxus muttered something about
"Mavis have mercy" under his breath as Cana laughed."Alright you two, in the house," Gajeel instructed. "We've been waiting a long time for you to get back, and your mothers made a special dinner to celebrate."
Everyone went inside and began setting out the food for dinner. Karyn went with her parents and little brother while Natsu and Lucy followed with Sicily.
"Hey, shortie," Waylen teased, ruffling his sister's blue hair.
"Way, stop that," she complained, swatting at his hand as her face turned pink. "I'm not a baby."
"Ah, come on," he pouted, wrapping his arm around her, "you never get embarrassed when I tease you."
"Don't tease me in front of Neal," she muttered, and Waylen immediately stiffened, his red eyes traveling over to the blonde boy waiting in the doorway-presumably for Ellie.
"Oh boy," I groaned quietly, watching as Waylen released his sister and marched towards the door.
"What?" Gajeel asked, grabbing my hand as we followed our children.
"Waylen just found out about Neal."
He let out a long whistle, shaking his head. "Those two have been eying each other for years, it was bound to happen."
"But Waylen-"
"Will get over it," Gajeel said.
"Hey, buddy," Waylen grinned wickedly, wrapping his arm around Neal's shoulders and steering him into the house, "let's chat."
"Dad," Ellie whined, turning to Gajeel, "do something about Mr. Over-protective, will you?"
Chuckling, Gajeel went after our son.
~ Waylen~
"Are you pouting?" Karyn giggled, placing her hand over mine on the dinner table.
"How could she not tell me she was dating him?" I complained. "Sure, it happened while we were gone, but I'm her big brother! If I had been here, I could have told her he wasn't good enough-"
"That's exactly why she didn't tell you," she teased, rolling her eyes. "She's fifteen, Waylen, she's going to date. But," she went on, kissing me softly on the cheek, "I can't say it isn't super cute how protective you are of your little sister."
"Speaking of which," I grinned, giving her hand a slight squeeze, "I'd say it's about time, isn't it?"
"About time for what?" Laxus asked, having overheard us.
"Well," I began, looking over at Karyn who gave me a might-as-well shrug, "Karyn and I have some news for everyone that we found out while in Germany.
"What is it, Waylen?" mom asked, frowning at me.
I beamed at her, knowing that frown would be gone in a few seconds. "Karyn's pregnant."
There was an instant of silence before the entire room exploded into celebratory shouts and cheers. Mom and Cana had left their seats and rounded the table before Karyn and I could even stand up, and they both pulled us into tight hugs. Mom's eyes were teary as she kissed me on the cheek. "Congratulations!" She cried, giving Karyn a kiss next.
"Grandkids?" I heard dad chuckle as he and Laxus both patted each other on the back. "Now I feel old!"
"Honey," mom laughed, going over to him and kissing him softly on the lips, "you're millions of years old."
Everyone laughed, and cried, and continued hugging and congratulating Karyn and I as the evening continued.
As the night came to an end, and everyone said their goodbyes, I pulled my wife into my arms and kissed her."Thank you," I told her.
"For what?" She asked, a bit startled.
"For saving my life all those years ago. And for making me infinitely more happy every day since then."
She smiled, kissing me deeply. When she pulled away, she chuckled.
"What?" I asked, moving a strand on blonde hair from her face.
"It's funny," she said meeting my eyes, "that all of this began with a song."
