Her Life

Beautiful mornings. Roads bustling with all possible kinds of people. Slow evenings, and lots of coffee. That's how a typical day in N.Y city went. At least, that's how it was for Selin. Meeting new faces everyday- from her neighbourhood, all the way to her workplace- was a ritual for her. The subway down street, too, needless to say, was a hub of social activity.
Well, let's just say that Selin's life was good after all. Oh, but a perfectly happy Selin? Nah. That's just delusional. (No offence to the Selins out there though. I wish you all the happiness in the world.)

Matt Brown's sole purpose in life was to suck the life out of her- or that's what she liked to believe. I almost forgot to formally introduce you to Mr. Brown! Matt Brown, or Mr. Brown, was the C.E.O of Eve.N Logistics, the company where Selin worked. He was a man of about sixty. Even though not scary looking, his demeanor still worked wonders in scaring the life out of his employees. How he loved appearing out of thin air! Right when Selin would take her coffee break, Mr. Brown would pop up right next to her, making her feel embarrassed of her three- pumps- of caramel, Caramel Machiato. (Again, no offence to any Selins. But, like, WHY three pumps of liquid sugar?)
Apart from her boss, the things that made her life a teeny- bit tiring were her tiny, one room apartment, and the usual subway rush. Her apartment studio was so tiny, that living in it felt like living in a gift box. The presence of oxygen in there was like a miracle in itself. And the subway rush... Ever felt like you were been carried away by a swarm of bees in a dust storm? Yupp. That's what being at the station felt like.
Selin's ikigai was that one cup of coffee that she had down street, at Terry's, along with her colleague/ best friend, Alice. For now, let's not dive deep into how they became friends. ( DEFINITELY will narrate that over coffee at Terry's some day.) Basically, Selin and Alice were (and still are) like that sibling duo that bickers the whole day, but is still inseparable.
