Prologue

Everyone has a soulmate song that they receive when they turn 10 years old. One soulmate has the tune, and the other has the words. Only the soulmates can recognise and hum their song. Once the soulmates meet, the song comes together, and they can sing the full song. However, even without meeting the other, they can recognise the words and tune. Both soulamtes only get their songs when the youngest has come of age.

If either soulmate dies, the other losse a piece of their soul. Once in a lifetime they get the opportunity to regain another soulmate, a broken soul who also lost their soulmate. If you lose your soulmate before you turn 10, it hurts less, and you simply feel empty inside, as you haven't completely developed a bond with your soulmate. But if your soulamet dies after you've recieved your song, the bond tears away, causing unbearable pain to the surviving soul. Rarely do people survive after having their soulmate being ripped away.
