AN: Thank you guys for actually reading my story, I didn't expect it to get any reads really! Also, quick note, I know these chapters haven't really been very descriptive and storyline, that's cause the actual story starts when they turn 16. I will put an author's not to remind you when the actual story story starts. And don't think I didn't notice, did you do something new with your hair? cause it looks amazing! Anyways, enjoy!

Disclaimer: I do not own these characters, only the plot.

Marinette, 13

Marinette was sitting at her desk, working on some designs. She had to finish this dress as soon as possible, she needed it tomorrow and her parents needed help downstairs. A jolt of pain attacked her stomach, as though she was stabbed. It went away as soon as it came, but the ghostly effects of the pain lingered. Then everything went black.

Marinette woke up to brilliant white lights shining in her face, and the strong smell of sanitizer instantly entered her nose. Marinette blinked the spots away, trying to get her eyes adjusted to the bright room.

The memories of the pain flooded into her mind as she started recalling what had happened. Something had happened to her soulmate. Marinette instantly started overthinking and awful thoughts erupted into her mind. Was her soulmate ok?

She took a deep breath, and tried to calm down. She felt empty. The constant tug she had gotten used to had left. She tried to hum her soul tune. She didn't remember. She tried so hard, over and over again. She just couldn't do it. She broke down crying.

A nurse entered the room and rushed to the collapsed girl.

"Oh sweetie, it's fine, you're an amazing and strong girl. it's gonna be alright, it's gonna be just fine. It's gonna be a good, good life. Do you want me to go get your parents?"

Marinette nodded through her tears, urging the nurse to leave and get her parents. She longed for her maman's embrace, and to feel like a coddled child here nothing was wrong.

The nurse began to leave, she couldn't stand the heart wrenching sobs of the poor girl anymore. No one deserved what the girl was going through. No one.

Her parents quickly came in and held Marinette, as she simply cried and cried and cried. She couldn't believe it. Her soulmate.. was dead.

Marinette spent the entire week crying, crying for the loss of someone she never met, someone she was meant to meet. She cried and cried her heart out. Next week, she needed to keep up the happy girl act, and she couldn't give Chloe anything to pick on her for again.

Little did she know, her whole life was going to turn upside down, because of a happy accident. (She recieves her Miraculous and Stoneheart happens, etc etc)

Damian also 13, After he was resurrected (again, I do not know DC that well, and I do not have very helpful friends, so if you could provide some feedback that would be amazing)

One of the first things Damian noticed when he woke up was the absence of the soulbond. He simply couldn't feel the constant tug anymore, the one he had gotten used to. He felt empty inside, like part of been had been ripped out and left behind when he died.

He decided to think about it later. It would come back eventually.. right? Damian waited. He waited for three days and three nights before he decided to search it up.

He sneaked into the Batcave and researched on soulmates, and what happens if one dies. After reading at least 17 sources, all that stated that in the case that one soulmate dies, it is common for the other one to die as well, Damian found a much more reliable website. It had interviews of multiple people who had lost their soulmate, and had somehow survived.

In the case that a soulmate dies, usually the other one dies as well if both have recieved their soul song. However, in the rare cases the other soulmate does survive, they lose they're part of the song.

Damian refused to believe that his soulmate was dead, and he knew that since he was alive, they couldn't have lost it. He decided to try a different tactic. He took out a pice of paper, and tried his best to remember the lyrics. He wrote day and night, trying to remember what the goddamn lyrics were. But he couldn't.

He looked at his notebook. In one of the pages was the last time he'd written the lyrics. He held it close and let the tears fall freely for onec in his life. His soulmate.. was gone.

And that's the end! Thank you for reading and sorry it took so long. I promise the next chapter the actual story will begin, and I'm going to try and post as soon as I can. Also, Damian is meant to be slightly older than Marinette.
