FOUR
THE ANGELIC ANTAGONIST

━━━━━━━━━━━

"I knew I'd find you here."

13 year old Kim Dokja spoke, standing in front of the wide open large doors to the church. He walked along the long aisles until he reached the place where (Y/N) sat quietly with his eyes closed like he was praying.

As bright (color) eyes fluttered opened and made contact with his own, Dokja could've sworn they were glowing like crystals under the light of the chandelier. His long lashes perfectly lined his eye shape as they battered whenever he blinked and when his hair pricked at the skin of his face, he'd furrow his brows and scrunch up his nose slightly. Like all of the world's light could never shine enough for his heaven, it felt like nothing could possibly faze him.

It was an odd concept, a child like (Y/N) behaving nothing like a child, but Kim Dokja always found it endearing. He found every little mannerism and quirk endearing, and he was sure that although he would never fully understand (Y/N), he would never abandon him. Not now, not ever.

Kim Dokja was captivated by (Y/N). In heart, body, and soul, all of himself had already fallen hard for his childhood best friend.

The 10 year old version of (Y/N) stared at him in curiosity, asking with his expression why he was disrupting him. His cheeks still had baby fat and his pouty lips resembled a child's, yet when it was (Y/N), he held a solemnity unbefitting of an adolescent.

"What are you always doing here? You're not even religious."

"Hmm."

(Y/N) hummed and looked for the right words to say. He was always like this, quiet, elegant, and mature while still holding the angelic allure of a child.

Yes, perhaps the right word would be to call him an angel.

"I'm repenting. You should do it too."

"What kind of things would a 10 year old need to repent about?"

(Y/N)'s gaze changed for a moment as he pursed his lips and stood up.

"Anything. If there's anything you feel you need to repent about, then do it. Maybe then some God would take mercy on you and help relieve your guilt, even by a little bit."

Kim Dokja knew there was a hidden meaning behind his words but he chose to ignore it.

He chose to ignore the bloodstain on the cuff of (Y/N)'s white button up shirt and the sorrow no child should have behind the mask that only his best friend was capable of seeing through. It was a cry for help to Dokja, yet he looked in the other direction.
