There's no way to go back now.

A/N: I recommend everyone to read this chapter very very closely, as it holds a lot of hints to future plot twists.

INCOMPLETE STORY

━━━━━━━━━━━

[What memory would you like to trade away for the Song of Memories?]

He momentarily stared at the message, a hazy murderous fog in his crystal-like eyes.

Then, he changed his gaze to his comrades.

Ah, comrades.

"Since when did I start to call them that?"

Since when did his heart begin to beat for anyone besides himself and Kim Dokja?

Reluctance.

Why was he reluctant? It should be easy to just kill everyone and eventually return to the beginning, just as he always did.

He thought he erased his emotions, he thought he erased his ambitions, he thought he erased even the semblance of his own happy ending, something that he knew wasn't possible.

When did he begin to wish for a happy ending with all these people?

Kim Dokja was his purpose.

Before him it was revenge.

It is easy for him to kill everyone, to suppress any emotions, and finish his duty, he's done it many times before.

So why was he hesitating?

This weakness...it was so very unlike him.

"Lee Hyunsung."

The man in question flinched as he met the gaze of the blood covered killer, remembering a conversation he had with Lee Jihye in the hidden scenario.

— "Sometimes...it feels like (Y/N) has known me for a long time. No, perhaps it's more like sometimes when he looks at me, he's staring at a past friend."

— "I know exactly what you mean. At first, I thought it was a coincidence, but every time he looks at me, my heart clenches at that gaze. He looks at me with such deep...sorrow."

— "He's always been a mysterious character, but his eyes really don't lie."

— "Yeah. That bastard says the most merciless things with a straight face, but I can tell he cares for you all a lot deeper than he lets on."
