"Illnesses... illnesses... illnesses... Here." Your fingertips stopped on the edge of a hardback book.
After Lisa's abrupt departure the other day, you'd decided that maybe it was time you did a bit of research. Where better to do that than the library? As there were no other ways of gathering information so efficiently, you made your way there as soon as you'd woken up.
You felt nervous about approaching the Knights of Favonius Headquarters. You'd done it many times before in the past when your father was still alive. You sat on the roof of the building with Diluc nightly. Why should this be any different?
Maybe because you were worried about what the knights would think? But, why should you care? It's not like you're coming to them for some sort of... shelter. Never in a million years would you come running back to the knights after what they allowed to happen to yours and Diluc's fathers.
The library is not restricted to only knights, either. Is it so abnormal for someone like you to come seeking information from the only place that carried it?
As it was early in the morning, the only person who you saw on your way into the library was one of the late-night guards, whose name you'd never gotten the chance to learn.
The library was pin-drop quiet. "Miss Lisa must be home, still." You thought.
You pulled the book from the shelf, a puff of dust blowing in your face. You blinked a few times. "Gross." You muttered.
You flipped through every page, only briefly scanning the contents. You sighed, slamming the book shut and shoving it back into its spot. You continued down the shelf until you found another book relating to illnesses.
You flipped through the pages again. Stopping when you came across one illness that was especially eye-catching.
"Hana... Hanahaki Disease?" You pronounced.
"I... don't think I've ever heard of this illness before..." You thought.
You read through the page that followed a photo of a red flower aloud. "'The Hanahaki Disease is something that occurs in only about 40% of the population. When a person is in unrequited love with another person, they may contract the Hanahaki Disease.' Unrequited Love?"
"The Hanahaki Disease causes flowers to grow in the person's lungs. Throughout their growth, the person will cough or vomit up flower petals until the flowers become large enough to suffocate them, or their love becomes requited." You furrowed your eyebrows.
"Hanahaki Disease, hm?" You dropped the book you were holding, quickly turning and instinctively reaching for your sword, which was not attached to your hip.
Lisa smiled. "I wasn't expecting to see you so soon, Y/N. What brings you here?"
You stared at her in shock. "When did you get here?"
"A few minutes ago! What were you reading?" She crouched down and picked up the book, scanning it.
"...Miss Lisa?"
"What's up, cutie?" She closed the book and put it back in place.
"What do you know about the Hanahaki Disease?" You asked.
While you doubted it, you were worried that what could've been happening to Diluc could be the cause of some idiot's unrequited emotions.
"I know just about as much as the book explains. Is there any reason why you were... reading about it?" She smirked, knowingly.
"...Miss Lisa, do you know something about Dee's illness? You... You do, don't you? I mean- you said he'd told you about it before. And... and... you just know everything, it seems. Tell me... please tell me he doesn't have this... disease..." Your voice trailed off when her expression fell slightly.
