The thing with relationships, romantic or otherwise, is they have the ability to change shape at any moment.
It was chilly. You shivered as the cold midnight air nipped at your bare arms. The clouds in the sky blocked the moonlight, making it darker than usual. You watched as the last of the Mondstadt lampposts flickered off.
"Are you alright?" Diluc spoke suddenly. You flinched, causing another shudder to run down your body.
You sighed a breath of relief. "Of course I am," You leaned backward until your back hit the roof of the Headquarters. "Why? Is something wrong?"
Diluc fell back with you. "You're cold, are you not? You keep shivering."
You turned your head to look at him to see that he was already gazing at you with a tranquil expression. "It's..." Your eyes fell but flicked back up immediately. "It's a bit chilly. I thought it would start to be a bit warmer at night now that it's spring, but it only seems to be getting colder."
Diluc closed his eyes for a moment. Perhaps he was thinking hard about something. He slowly sat up and shook his arms out of his coat sleeves. He held his coat out to you, "Would you like to… borrow my jacket..?"
You looked at him with an almost blank expression. You slowly propped yourself up on your elbows, continuing to stare at him without a reaction. Of fucking course I wanna borrow your jacket. Do you know how warm and soft that shit looks?
You had always wanted to wear Diluc's jacket, though you weren't aware of that until he offered it to you. You thought about declining. As if wearing it once would make it to where you'd never be able to take it off.
"S…Sure." You carefully took his coat and slid your arms into the sleeves. You took a deep breath, and, oh.
It smelled like him. What that smell was, you couldn't quite discern. Perhaps… cinnamon? Something… comforting.
You slumped slightly and sighed. "Thank you…" You looked down at Mondstadt for a moment but turned back to face him.
Diluc had not noticed you were looking at him. His eyes slowly rose from your waist to your shoulders, up until he met your gaze. His eyes widened, and his face flushed. He turned his head away from you. Embarrassed, to say the least.
You exhaled a chuckle. Diluc turned to face you, confusion on his face. "What? What's so funny?"
You shook your head, smiling. "I'm just thinking." You sighed happily.
Diluc grunted, looking back at Mondstadt. Now, it was your turn to stare.
Under his jacket, he had been wearing a loose white shirt. The sleeves stopped halfway to his elbows, leaving parts of his biceps exposed to the cold.
A gust of wind washed by, and Diluc's tied-up hair flew in the air. The ribbon you'd let him borrow weeks ago twirled over his crimson locks.
You forced yourself to look away from him. He was addicting, and you were not into nicotine or cocaine, so you needed to chill the actual fuck out.
You stood up and shook Diluc's jacket off of you, folding it over your arm and holding it out to him. "I'm gonna get going. Here."
Diluc looked up at you, then down at your arm. "It's fine. You can just return it to me tomorrow night, or whenever we may next see each other." He waved his hand in the air dismissively.
"Are… Are you sure? It's chilly, and I wouldn't want your illness to get worse." You said, concerned.
"It's fine, Y/N." He stood up and pulled the jacket off of your arm, shaking it out. Diluc placed his coat over your shoulders and took another moment to gaze at how you looked wearing his clothing. His mouth parted slightly, and you didn't miss the way he ever so slightly bit his lip, praying you hadn't noticed his wandering eyes.
