ANNIE'S POV....
Dried leaves crunched beneath the sole of my boots as I made my way to our usual spot. How we ended up as friends, I really have no idea. Somehow, it just happened after that fateful night when I saw her dance in the forest. Somehow, it felt like there was this some kind of strong force that pulled me towards her. That maybe, just maybe, she wasn't as dangerous as I thought she would be. But I was wrong...
SHE WAS DANGEROUS... AND SCARY IN A WHOLE OTHER LEVEL....
Reaching my destination, I looked up and just as I had expected she was there... her eyes closed. With her back on the trunk of the tree and wires completely and safely fastened on both her sides, most of the other trainees eould have thought that she was probably sleeping... But she wasn't sleeping at all, i knew that much.... She was probably in her own little peacefulworld again.. A world that she had always envisioned for everyone. A world where everyone would have a peaceful and normal life. A world where people die not because of being devoured by Titans but because of a natural death... Old age, diseases, murder, and the like. A world where people would live in peace and not fear.... A world that she wanted to share with me and everyone else... Even without knowing who/what I truly am...
Somehow it the thought of her wanting to share that dream of hers with me made me both happy and sad... It somewhat also makes me question my allegiance at times...
Lowering my head as I pushed away those thoughts out of my mind, Lightly, ever so lightly as to not startle her, I tapped on the trunk of the same tree just to inform her that I was already here and in an instant her eyes snapped wide open, revealing those extravagant sapphire blue orbs of her that sparkled like gems in the sunlight and turned them towards me.
"Annie... How long have you've been there?" She asked me while she yawned with one hand covering her mouth like a lady.
"Not long enough." I told her as I took my usual spot on the patch of grass below her and sat there. "... Don't tell me you ... were actually sleeping here?" I asked her hesitantly for some reason.
"yeah..." She answered with another yawn as she shifted her body to a better sitting position.
"Are you nuts?! Marco will kill me if you hurt yourself!" I half yelled in surprised as I inclined my head to look at her with fear written plastered on my face, well that's a first.
"Ha! Marco killing someone? That would be a sight alright!" She laughed. Oh how naïve of her not to know about the dark side of her prince. "Marco might be good with a gun but it's too far-fetched that he'd use his skills to kill someone over a scartch." she added, still laughing. Oh how naïve it was of her to not see dark side of he prince.... Not to see the lengths that he would go through for her... And how deeply he loves her. Maybe naïve wasn't actually the right word.... Dense probably suited her better. "Besides... I don't think Marco would kill anyone unless necessary. He's... too nice... Especially for this godforsaken world that we're living in..." She continued, her eyes becoming clouded by something unfanthomable... Does she perhaps also love the said man?
"Do you love him?" I blurted out the words on my mind before I could stop myself. 'Nice work, idiot,' I said as I mentally slapped myself for my stupidity and braced myself, inwardly, for her reaction.
"I don't really know. I mean, he's someone special to me... But to what extent I clearly don't have a clue." She answered so straight forwardly that my jaw almost dropped until I heard her next words. "All I know is that this godforsaken land needs more of him... And somehow... It makes me just want to protect him and prolong his life as much as I could. you know what I mean?" She said.
