'There's no turning back now.' You thought as your blue eyes wandered the trees, waiting.

Waiting for that one person you had always called your friend. Your best friend. Waiting for that clash that you both knew that was bound to happen. That clash that will make you both severe your ties with each other unless you figure out a way to reach her. To convince her to stop whatever it was that she was doing for the sake of mankind.

But how?

You knew it in both your heart and mind that she wouldn't listen to words. She never did. But still, you had to try.

The soft rustling of the leaves in the wind echoed in the forest as you stood there in wait. Feeling a the wind gently caressing your face towards your right made you turn only to be greeted by a pair of brown translucent orbs that looked at you with worry.

"Is she coming?" You asked the translucent man before you in what you hope was in a steady tone.

"Yes. She'll be here in a few minutes." He answered you as he gently brushed his thumb on your cheek. "Are you sure about this?" He asked you hesitantly as he looked at you squarely in the eyes.

Silence was the only answer you could give him.

In truth, you weren't sure if what you were doing was right. If trying to talk to your friend would make things better or much more worst.

But you had to do something. You had to do something before it happens again.

Tears started to form in your eyes as your ghostly companion gently brushed them away from your face while whispering reassuring words in your ear like: everything will be okay, I'm sure it won't happen. You'll get through her.

Lies!

Everything wasn't going to be okay. It will happen. You wouldn't get through her.

You saw it clearly. As clear as white skies that rolled by in Spring.

You saw their deaths. You saw her kill them as the monstrosity that she had been keeping from you. The same kind of monster that had killed them.

The slight sound of a branch creaking beneath something's weight echoed softly where you were. Followed by two words from the ... figure before you.

"She's here." He whispered in your ears.

"(First name)." her voice called out as her hooded figure stood before you. Eyes completely hidden from your sight and her blades glistened in the dim forest light as she held them at the ready.

"Annie." you greeted her back with what you had hope was a monotonic voice.

"You're in my way." She said coldly as she tightened her grip on the handle of her blades.

"I don't want to fight you, Annie." You said as you raised you hands in the air to show her that you were unarmed which only made her tighten her grip even more.

"Then get out of my way." Annie said as she readied herself.

"I can't do that. I have my orders to take you with me. Alive." You said as you lowered your hands.

"You know I can't let you do that. If you have your orders to follow, I also have mine." Your friend says in what you could have thought was a sad tone. "Now movement I'll cut you to pieces." she threatened.

"No." You simply replied as you stared at her with a blank expression on your face.

"So be it." She whispered soft enough that you barely heard it before she charged at you at full speed, her blades aiming for your head.

"(Y/n)! Dodge it!" Marco screamed beside you as you simply held your ground with your hands resting at your sides, unmoving as you stated squarely at your friend.

You weren't afraid. Not of Annie nor of death. You've already prepared yourself for the later since you joined the Legion at the young age of ten and you've laid your life on the line more than once and lived through it. This wasn't any different.

"(Y/n)!" the male entity beside you screamed in panic as he tried tugging at the sleeve of you jacket.

There was no hesitation in your friend's eyes. She was going to kill you if you didn't move and you knew it. But despite everything, despite every nerve in your body screaming at you to defend yourself, you just stood there and stared at the woman who was coming to kill you.

She was inches away from you. Just a few inches away that you could feel her breath on your face and the coolness of her blades resting on the left side of your neck.

You could feel warm thick substance trickle down your neck where her blades rested. The familiar metallic smell of blood mixed with the scent of the trees made its way into your nose as your freckled friend simply stared at you in horror. His translucent face paling even more, if that was even possible.

"You..." Annie started to say in a shaky voice, her eyes as wide as saucers as she watched the red liquid continue to trickle from the wound she had inflicted.
