(The next day)
After the talk we had yesterday I went home to pack my things and be by myself for a while. It felt good to finally throw it all out there but I also feel exhausted.
They were right, I do need help and I'm willing to seek it. I've heard there's going to be a therapist on campus for students who might need it so I'll go talk to her.
But it's time for the next big step, college. Riley and I will be sharing a dorm room. Although I love nothing more I'm slightly nervous. I really like Riley and she might pretend there are no feelings but I can't. I feel what I'm feeling and I can't keep pushing it away.
One thing is for sure, this is going to be a though school year. Luckily the actual classes don't start until next week. So we'll first have some time to settle in.
We'll also have to look for extra circulars and Riley obviously wants to try out for the cheerleading team. It's middle school all over again.
Riley: This is it Maya, we're college girls now!!
Maya: Can't believe I actually made it I always thought I wouldn't come further than middle school
Riley: yeah we all did
Farkle: Ladies
Lucas: Hey Riley..
Riley: isn't it great that we're all here together. I mean it guys I want to be wherever my best friends are
Riley's POV.
I have to be honest with Lucas. I don't want to give I'm the wrong impression.
Even though he's here with us I can tell he father wants to be anywhere else. Yet he's here, for just a second we're all here as if nothing happened.
Just a group of friends going to college.
Riley: Alright let's check out our rooms shall we?
Maya: I'm in let's go
Riley: (stops Lucas) Can we talk?
Lucas: Uh sure what about?
Riley: Us
(They go outside and seat down)
Riley: I really like you Lucas, I do. But right now there's so much changing and I just need some time to figure things out
Lucas: What? Why? We're okay aren't we?
Riley: I don't know
Lucas: Why not? Because Maya kissed you?
Riley: Yeah
Lucas: Just because she kissed you, you don't have to pretend you're interested
Riley: Excuse me?
(Maya appears in the window and watches them)
Lucas: (Grabs Riley's head and kisses her) can you now look me in the eye and tell me that didn't mean anything to you?
Riley: No, I can't
(Maya leaves sad)
Lucas: Well than that's settled you're mine and I love you
Riley: I love you too, but Maya..
Lucas: Maya can take care of herself and she'll get over it. You're not her babysitter
(Riley looks at Lucas, she's conflicted)
Maya's POV
Lucas just kissed Riley. How stupid was I to think she was into me. I'll just have to except it, I have no chance with Riley.
It's not so easy though, we'll be sharing a dorm room for crying out loud. After watching Riley and Lucas I decide to go back to our room. It's pretty cosy.
Not much later Riley comes in.
Riley: Hey
Maya: Hey
Riley: what's up?
Maya: Nothing, where were you?
Riley: Oh you know just discovering the school
Maya: Really? So nothing happened?
Riley: No
She lied, I saw her kissing Lucas. Why wasn't she telling the truth?
