After Talon finished breakfast with his parents he went to the public library that was near his cave. Once he landed in the library, he walked towards the section that was about giants. As he was looking through the books he saw his friend, she had earned her name early. Her name was Embonnail, she had earned her name after killing some giants that had tried to take some of our land. Her feathers were black with some grey scattered throughout, she looked at him and asked what he was doing. "I'm trying to find some information on the giants." was his response. She looked at Talon and said "The best books about giants are on the top shelf towards the back." as she said that she pointed at the very top shelf. After she said this he thanked her and started walking towards the stairs that lead up to the higher shelfs. For a public library it was huge, there were several bookshelves, some of which had around twenty to thirty shelves.
The stairs he was climbing led to one of the larger shelves, after climbing for some time he finally arrived at the top shelves. Once Talon was at the top he looked through the different books and found a book with a deep red leather backing. It was titled "Giants and Everything You Need to Know About Them" with golden lettering. After he picked up the book he went back downstairs, once he arrived downstairs he walked towards one of the several leather chairs near the fireplace and sat down. After he sat down he opened the book and started reading, the first thing he saw was a sentence that read "While we know the general location, we do not know exactly where the giants live" after reading this Talon was a little disappointed. But he continued reading "We know that the giants live in the mountains in the far reaches of the North." Talon found this interesting, maybe they were sensitive to the sun? After Talon got all the information he could from the book he went to put it back, but then he decided to check it out in case he needed to reread it. After he checked the book out he flew back to his cave, once he arrived in the cave he went to his part of the cave and hid the book so his parents wouldn't find it.

By the time his parents arrived back home it was night. Once they all sat down at the table for dinner his parents asked how his day went, at this question he responded with "I went to the library and talked with Embonnail for a while, after she left I came back home." After he told them what he did his parents started talking about their day. His mother complained about how some of the deer escaped from the pastures again, his father on the other hand complained that the new member of the council tried to change the time limit to earn a name from ten years to five instead. After they were done complaining about their jobs Talon's mother looked at him, "You are going to need to go to the bathouse soon, your feathers are filthy looking." after his mother said this, Talon looked at his wings, the normally grey colored wings were a dark grey instead, and the cream color that was speckled throughout was a very light grey now. Talon told his mother that he would go to the bathhouse after dinner, after he told her that she told him not to forget and they all went back to eating. 

After they all ate Talon flew to the bathhouse and walked inside, there were a few other griffins in the baths, but he ignored them and went to an empty bath and started running some water. Once the bath was full he sat inside the warm water, letting it soak through the several layers of feathers and letting it warm him up. Once he was sure all of his feathers were soaked through he reached over and grabbed the lever to turn on the shower, after the shower was on he pulled the lever that poured some soap onto him. Once the soap was all washed off his feathers returned to their original color. After he stepped out of the bath he grabbed some towels and dried his feathers, then he went and sat outside waiting for his feathers to completely dry.

Once his feathers were dry he flew home, as he walked into his room he glanced at his calendar and saw his hatchday was two days away. After he saw that his heart was filled with sadness, his older brother would not be able to be at his hatchday this year. His older brother was unable to earn his name and was exiled a month after Talons hatchday. After remembering those sad memories Talon went to bed, having no idea what was going to happen soon.
