( philosopher's stone )
CHRISTMAS WAS COMING. One morning in mid-December, the students at Hogwarts awoke to find the grounds covered in several feet of snow. The lake had frozen solid and through every window in the castle you could watch as students went ice-skating with their friends, or started snowball fights whilst walking to Herbology. Apollo couldn't wait for the term to be over and for the holidays to begin.
While the Hufflepuff common room and the Great Hall had roaring fires, the drafty corridors had become icy, and a bitter wind rattled the windows in the classrooms. Apollo spent all his lessons pulling his robes tighter around himself and counting down the minutes until they were over.
Professor Snape's lessons in the dungeons were by far the worst. The students spent the entire Potions class huddled by their warm cauldrons, trying desperately to ward off the cold.
It wasn't helped by Malfoy ( who had become even more insufferable than usual since Gryffindor had won the Quidditch match against Slytherin ). He had soon realised that making fun of Harry's flying skills was futile, as everyone was still impressed after the boy had managed to stay on his bucking broomstick and catch the golden snitch. So, he had resorted back, instead, to taunting Harry about having no proper family.
Apollo thought it was a low blow, even for Malfoy, and had told the horrible boy as much ━━ not that it made any difference.
"I do feel sorry," Malfoy said, one Potions lesson, giving Harry a pointed look, "for all those people who have to stay at Hogwarts for Christmas because they're not wanted at home."
Harry just rolled his eyes and Apollo shot a glare at the blonde boy.
It's not like Harry would be spending Christmas alone.
Ron's parents were going to Romania to visit his older brother, Charlie, for Christmas so Ron and his brothers would be staying at Hogwarts as well. And Apollo had gotten a letter from his uncle that he had to work overtime, not to mention he'd be extra busy since the night the Hogwarts Express would be getting in would be a full moon, so there was no chance Silas or Remus would be there to pick him up.
