chapter one ✷ a morning different from others

━━━━━━━━━━━

A BRUNETTE BOY WOKE, RUBBING HIS EYES TIREDLY AND STRETCHING HIS LIMBS TILL THEY DIDN'T FEEL STIFF. Apollo Lupin wasn't a morning bird, heck, he wasn't even an afternoon bird. Sleep was really his only companion.

"Merlin, you look like..." a voice said, making Apollo look up to so his Uncle Silas leaning against the door frame, pursing his lips and squinting his eyes at his nephew, "I don't know what you look like, but you look dead."

"I am," Apollo replied grimly, his usual doe eyes looking completely grumpy.

Silas chuckled, revealing the coffee mug from behind his back and he saw Apollo's eyes sparkle. The man walked over and passed his nephew the mug, watching as he stared lovingly at the drink before sipping it, as though he was walking on clouds.

The man chuckled, "okay, mug Romeo, you've gotta get ready for the train."

Apollo went green and he gave Silas a look. "Can't I just... stay here...?"

"And not learn magic?" Silas chuckled, placing a hand on his hip and giving his nephew a look, brow raised and a half grin. "Apollo, I get your nervous but you can't just not go to Hogwarts." he sat himself down at Apollo's feet as the boy drunk more of his coffee. Silas knew he shouldn't be giving Apollo coffee, but it cheered him up whenever he had to wake up, had a bad day or just felt down. "I promise you, buddy, you're gonna make a lot of friends, and you're gonna have lots of fun."

Apollo didn't look convinced, but he nodded however and took another sip of his drink. Silas patted the boy's leg lightly, "now, do you want to wear your robes now or get dressed on the train?"

"I don't wanna wear my robes for a whole train ride," Apollo said, sneering at the thought and Silas snorted.

"Of course you don't," he muttered, "get ready then and I'll pack your robes."

Apollo nodded, pursing his lips before grabbing the picture frame of him, his father and his mother from when he was a baby. Apollo didn't remember much from his father, but Silas always reminded him he was a great man, that he left Apollo because he was a werewolf.

When he'd first told Apollo Remus Lupin was a werewolf, the boy did all his research when he and Silas visited Diagon Alley. He'd found out there had recently been a potion made, one that could let his father have his mind during the full moon.

However, when he showed this to Silas, he had to explain it costed too much money since the potion had to be brewed a certain way for it to take effect. Apollo had sworn he would get as good as he could at potions to help his father with full moons.
