Mommy! Daddy is on TV!...

Your son admired his dad's talent and was just as in love with cars as Charles had been ever since you two met when you were 7 years old. However, your son also hated when your now husband wasn't around. He loved playing with Charles and despised when he couldn't go to races or just when his dad couldn't play with him. It was a bittersweet feeling for you too, because you loved that Charles was doing what he loved but hated when your baby boy was sad because he couldn't spend time with his dear father.

This weekend the race was taking place in Montreal, Canada, and as with every other race that you couldn't attend: You'd turn the T.V on and waited for the transmission to start. You placed your son on his high chair, gave him a toy car for him to stay entertained while you made sure dinner was almost done. It was late for the time zone and hated to have your son awake so late because it messed up his sleep schedule but he would never miss out on one of Charles' races. You could see he was really excited about Today's race because Charles had all the odds in his favor to take the win.

You took the fifteen minutes before the race to finish cooking and serving. You placed your son's plate on his high chair, you had made pasta carbonara since he loved it just as much as his dad did. You served yourself a potion and sat down on the couch. The F1 theme was playing which meant it was time. The formation lap happened and it was the moment before lights out. The moment before the five lights went on were always the one in which you were the most anxious. You hated the idea of Charles getting into a bad accident, he was the love of your life and father to your son after all.

The race started and your husband had easily taken the lead. Verstappen had started 5th and Ferrari wouldn't allow Carlos to overtake Charles if he was the one leading, rules were rules. The race was exciting, it was unusual that a McLaren was third at the moment, Daniel Ricciardo fighting for second place with Carlos. The fight between the second and third place allowed Charles to increase his gap and continue comfortably leading the Grand Prix. His pit stops went by without any inconvenience which you were very glad about, after Ferrari having a couple of fuck ups in the season already.

You knew Charles could already see the checkered flag in the moment in which the commentator congratulated him over yet another win this season. You were so proud of him and wish you could have been there to share yet another milestone in his career. Your son was just as happy since he understood that his dad had won yet another race.

You normally wouldn't wait for the post race interviews and would clean up before watching the podium. Tonight was different, you stayed and watched them, happy to see Charles smiling. "Mommy! Daddy is on TV!" Your young son exclaimed. He loved to see Charles on TV and would say the same thing each time he would watch a video or see him on the television. He always spoke to you in English and to Charles in French which was why he spoke in English this time. It was genuinely cute to see how excited he would get.

You hoped that one day he would be able to attend as many races as he could with his dad, you didn't mind him falling in love with the sport as much as his father. You hoped it would be a hobby that they would share. The podium went by and you let your son out of his high chair so he could celebrate Charles' win. You recorded a video so Charles wouldn't miss out on the small moments like this that he couldn't be present in. He loved to see his son grow up proud of him.

The excitement died down after a few minutes post race. You carried your son to his room and tucked him into his bed. He was fast asleep. You called Charles shortly after and congratulated him. You sent him the cutest video as well, hoping that it would continue motivating him to be the most talented and successful driver of all time.
