(A/N Just wanted to let you know that Arlo uses He/They pronouns and the pic on top is of him :3)

(Arlo's P.O.V)

"Oh goodness, your room is a disaster!" The blonde haired girl I called my sister said in disgust as she entered.

"Grace, please shut up. I'm trying to sleep." I mumbled quietly, snuggling into the warm sheets of my bed.

"No! You're always just sitting around doing nothing! You need to do something with your life! I'm younger than you and I still do more!"

"That's not fair, also I don't think taking pictures of yourself and talking about how pretty you are is really doing something..."

"What!? It definitely is! Oh yeah and mom wanted you to go talk to her in her room or something-" Why the fuck didn't she start with that? " But that doesn't mean you're better than me! Mom talks to me too!" She screamed in my face.

"Sure you're better. Whatever helps you sleep at night I suppose."

"I sleep perfectly fine!"

"Good."

She looked at me for a few moments after and then briskly turned to leave my room. How am I even related to that strange being...

I slipped out of my warm blue bed and walked between the piles of sketchbooks, paper and pencils while attempting to move the hair out of my face. Fuck this is so annoying, I need to cut my hair.

Leaving my large bedroom behind I walked through the wide stone hallway towards her room. Every hallway in this castle seemed to be covered in vines, metallic accents and windows. Although yes, it was quite beautiful, damn it was annoying.

By the time I had made it to my mothers room, she was already looking out the open door for me.

"Good morning Arlo." She said in a monotone voice.

"Good morning mother! Grace had said you wished to speak to me?"

"Yes. I'm sure you know that because of the war between the kingdom of Fierro and the kingdom of Mizuchi there is much tension in the country. So your father and I have organized a meeting in our castle for the four of our kingdoms to reunite and make peace." Her voice calm despite the topic holding a silent threat.

"You will be needed to show our guests that we are strong, so make sure to be on your best behavior and please, wear our kingdoms colors, not just a bunch of black." She mumbled the last part with a face of disgust.

I like how I look in all that black though...

"Yes. Of course mother."

"Oh and, if you see anyone -how do I put this?- intriguing, let me know. You are eighteen so you will be needing a fiancé soon." She looked me up and down while talking.

"Yes. I will."

With my mothers nod of approval, she swiftly turned and slammed her door in my face.

Jeez parenting problems much? Can't I decide that on my own?

My dark gray eyes stared at me through the reflection of a mirror. Their color reminded me of glass, holding many hidden mysteries.

I was wearing a white turtleneck with matching dark blue dress pants and blazer to match my pinned back blue hair. Small silver hoops hung on my ears and many rings decorated my fingers.

I teared my eyes away from the reflection and towards the door that would separate me from myself and the person I presented myself to be.

A prince.

When I made my way out of the bathroom and into the ballroom, I saw a familiar looking girl. As I approached her, I admired her long blonde hair and deep blue eyes.

Gosh I haven't seen her in ages!

"Good evening Princess Annabella. How have you been?" I dipped my head in respect, smiling softly.

She bowed elegantly before responding, her long light blue dress flowing around as she moved "Good evening to you as well, Prince Arlo. I have been doing alright. What about you?"

"I'm quite well, happy to see all of the kingdoms again."  My smile never flattening as I spoke.

As much as I love being a prince, talking so formal all the time is kinda stupid.

"I share your sentiment. It is wonderful to see us all together again." She replied happily.

"Indeed. Pardon me, but I must go greet more guests. It would be nice to talk to you after?" I asked, bowing to her as a royal must.

"Of course, it was great to make your acquaintance once again." She gave a bow in return.

I nodded and turned to leave, the smile on my face genuine after seeing my childhood friend once again. Her kindness seemed like a river flowing in her eyes that just never dried out.

After wandering around the large light blue and white hall, I spotted another of the royals. A tall girl with beautiful short black hair. She was talking to a boy dressed in elegant clothing, no doubt another royal child.

As I tried to walk over to them, I was suddenly stopped by a form walking in front of me.

People here are supposed to have good manners! Clearly that's not true!

Looking up I noticed that it was a group of the kings and queens of all four kingdoms. They were walking quickly towards the meeting room in our castle.

What could they possibly be in such a rush to do?

I shook off my curiosity and continued to walk towards the duo of royals who were happily chatting away. No doubt also wearing some very fake smiles.

As I reached them, I bowed. My hair flopping into my face again, causing me to push it away.

"Hello Princess Ash. It's great to see you. As well as you Prince Aaron. I don't believe we have met before." I pondered.

"No. I don't believe we have. However, it is nice to meet you." He smiled.

"You as well." I replied, my smile becoming more and more fake.

"Oh, Prince Arlo. Could I ask when you became a prince?" I heard Ash ask.

"I did a few months after the war had started. I have been in the process of fully becoming one since." I replied with a small chuckle.

"That's wonderful-" her voice was suddenly cut off by a loud yell coming from the meeting room.

"Hm, I wonder what's going on."  Aaron's confused voice popped up over the silence that had engulfed the room.

"I'm not sure." I mumbled.

I saw the figure dressed in blue I had seen earlier walk towards us.

"Prince Arlo! Where did that yell come from?" Princess Annabella asked in a hushed tone.

"It was coming from our castle's meeting room. I believe all of our parents went there earlier on. Why?"

"Maybe we should go check it out.." Ash said.

"Yeah, there's a lot of tension between them right now. It wouldn't be good if a disagreement broke out." Aaron mumbled quietly.

I nodded and slowly led the way to a hallway leading to a door on the other side of the meeting room.

As the four of us moved closer to the door we heard a strange conversation.

"For the sake of our kingdoms, we need them to do it!" The king of the earth kingdom yelled out.

"They're just children!" Another voice cried.

"It's for the good of the peace. They must get married!" The king spoke once again.
