(Aaron's P.O.V)

Many people believe being a royal is amazing. That we have the most amazing life, full of happiness, love and wealth. Well the wealth part is true.

Being a prince came with a lot of unwanted things too and no one seemed to talk about it. The loneliness? No conversations about it. The yelling? Anxiety? The disappointment? The expectations? Not. A. Peep.

I felt so free being away from the kingdoms. There was no one here to tell me to be better or be more polite or masculine. I can just be myself.

And I, myself, found my golden eyes staring at a head of blonde and blue hair. Annabella was sitting on a step leading out of the cabin.

I had been going outside to make a small sketch of the scenery since we had gone to collect Meláni mushrooms. But clearly I couldn't do that when I heard the quiet cry's coming from the water princess.

Suddenly River came out of his cabin as well, he looked at me in confusion before walking past me and eventually Anna without a word.

What's up with him?

I watched as the strange elf walked further down, stopping at a tree in front of the cabin and pulling something out from zir pocket.

It seemed to be a small dagger..?

He walked closer to the tree and seemed to start climbing it, using the small dagger to lift zem up the tree carefully. Ze stopped at a certain branch before raising his hands and letting a neon green smoke emit and cover the cabin.

Confusion filled my mind until I saw the trees around us slowly moving closer, acting as a dome around the cabin. Maybe it was for protection?

As he climbed back down, I saw as Anne started to turn her head towards me. I was still standing just outside the cabin's doors so I quickly opened it and ran in before she could realize I saw her crying earlier.

I physically cringed as I bumped into someone while trying to escape the dark blue eyes of the princess.

A small chuckle escaped the shorter boy behind me.

"Hmm. People really need to stop trying to fall for me." Arlo's annoying voice said in confidence.

Gosh if I could choke him right now, I would.

I pushed the annoying prince out of my way before heading towards our shared room. When I walked towards me and Ash's shared bed, I quickly fell asleep when my face hit the pillows.

Rain pattered against a window in the small wooden structure. A string of lanterns being the only source of light.

"Ary! Ary! Look, I found more pillows for us!" A small girl with long curly hair bounced toward me, a short child.

"That's good! We need some inside so we're nice and comfy!" I exclaimed happily.

I took one pillow, putting it up against the side. The small girl, my friend, Ash, did the same with one of the pillows she brought to us. We slowly built up the area, making it fuller. I flashed Ash a smile, and we crawled inside.

"This pillow fort is great!" I cheered, hanging on to my favorite stuffed bear.

"It's not a pillow fort. It's a pillow castle!" Ash corrected me, us laughing.

Our small bodies fit well in the surprisingly large pillow castle. Darkness surrounded us, the little light from the lanterns creeping in. We closed ourselves in, cuddling up. We laughed quietly, feeling separated from the outside world.

The quick, racing steps from outside we paid no mind to. Just us away from the world.

Separated. Though together.

Our small laughter continued, within the peace of our fort, in the small room. The two of us simply joked about everything and anything.

People always say childhood memories are the best. Probably because we are children. We have no sense of who we are or what the world is like.

Swift feet echoed through the wooden building and a loud creak disturbed our fun.

"Ash? Aaron? We need to leave. Now. Get up, don't worry about your things, we can buy new ones. Just hurry!" Queen Jade rushed out.

"Mother? What's going on?" Ash asked quietly.

"Just hurry!" The queen's voice got higher in panic.

Me and Ash sat their confused. I was about to grab my beloved teddy bear before a hand snatched my wrist away. The queen pulled us away from the pillow castle and ran out of the door.

But what about my bear?

A voice echoed through the quiet room.

"Hey royal mistakes! Dinner is ready!" River's voice interrupted my poorly attempted sleep.

Great.
