Natasha can't be more glad when the elevator dinged. She have been cooped up in such a small area for so long, she was starting to have ADHD. Steve who also looked relieved, pressed the ground floor button. "I swear I'm going to kill Tony." Steve muttered. "I'll help." Natasha added. Steve grinned again. A spark grew in her spine when he does this, a humming feeling buzzed against her organs, her heart was bouncing from place to place.
God, no. She was so screwed.
Natasha ran immediately after the elevator opened it's doors. She realized that -- she, the Black Widow, was in love with, him, the Captain America. She hated this feeling. It was so wrong. Every time she loved, she got hurt, or worse, her lover got hurt. She didn't bother to scold Tony. She just ran and ran.
*********
Natasha left Steve as confused as ever. What did he do wrong? His heart throbbed painfully against the feeling of her leaving him. Stop it Rogers, you're not even dating her. He couldn't be more upset than that. Maybe she forgot something? He told himself restlessly.
Steve arrived to Fury's office. He had called Steve for a mission, Steve felt a remorse of excitement as the thought of his first mission after Ultron, then remembered, Natasha's probably isn't talking to him during the mission. He was first confused, then angry at himself, and annoyed at Natasha.
"Come in." He heard Fury's voice called. He pushed the door opened and was greeted by a familiar blond. "Hello Steve." It was Sharon. He kept on a straight face. "Yes Fury." Steve put on his Captain voice, preventing Sharon from reading any of his emotion.
Steve walked out of Fury's office right after he finished his mission debriefing. Well, actually, he stormed out. Curse the world for his complicated feelings. He wasn't so sure what made him angry, he just was. Natasha completely ditched him for their first mission after Ultron.
"Steve! Steve!" He turned and his gaze softened, it was Sharon. She was holding their mission file. "Steve, please get ready, we'll leave as soon as we can." Sharon said brushing her blond hair over her shoulder, looking him in those luxurious brown eyes, Peggy's brown eyes. "Sure." He grinned at her.
*********
He stared at the file for a moment, should he cancel his mission and demand Natasha what was her problem instead? He shouldn't care so much, should he? After all, they both were platonic friends. He sighed deeply. Did Natasha feel the same way? He wanted to hit everything. Why was the 21st century so complicated?
"Steve? Are you ready?" Sharon. Again. He took his mission file and bag, wearing his stealth suit underneath his coat. "Yes." By that, he walked out to join Sharon. He hoped it was a successful mission. His first partner was Natasha, nobody else.
"Hey... You okay?" asked Sharon as she noticed his distant look. He nodded, not wanting to her to involve this. Sharon just furrowed her eyebrows and let the topic go. Steve got up and walked to the other end of the Quinjet, she was too much like Peggy, too much.
He glanced at the window of the Quinjet, the SHEILD headquarters was starting to become smaller. Steve closed his eyes, drifting off to sleep at once.
