Alora parked her car and stayed seated for another minute.
The last days were slowly settling in and they were something between a nightmare and...a fever dream?
When Alora left Jun's place, he pushed a hundred-dollar bill into her hands, refusing to take it back and said "that's for your groceries, shut up".
And unarguably the sweet but stubborn nurse really tried giving it back, she shoved it into his chest, with force even – she wasn't to be bought this easily. Jun however didn't want to argue. He was tired of his own back pain and quite literally begged her to accept the offer.
In all honesty, Alora didn't want to fight either, he was nothing but a tease and she didn't know Jun for longer than a few days but seeing him tired to the core was unsettling because all the other times he was overly bright and kind of a nuisance.
To take precautions she looked after him for a second time the following day right before work and he assured her he was fine, it just hurt a little.
On the third day there was radio silence and he left her on read although she just wanted to see how he was handling that because she knew a lumbago would leave anyone in a sweat, even a muscular, tough-looking man like Jun.
He texted a few I'm fine don't worry-words on the fourth day – now it's been a whole week and Alora decided that she wouldn't pay him any more attention. It was a thrill having Jun look at her like she was a whole five course meal to a starving man, desired almost, but didn't like the way her stomach would flip upside down at his smile, let alone his laughter. It was an unknown feeling to her and Alora didn't like trying new things, so she wouldn't bother with Jun anymore.
She shook her head and got out of her car. Why are you even sparing a thought about a random player teasing you?! You aren't dumb!
Alora promptly made her way into the hospital, finished off all her intro-duties so she could get settled and brushed fluff off her scrub. She smiled into the mirror. Today is gonna be a great day!
Today was a charity event to get in new sponsors to help out the hospital financially because frankly speaking – the hospital was about to be closed down even if it didn't seem like it. So, there would be a charity run and people could donate as well.
Alora was glad she was just going to be working on the computers more today, this was going to be an easy day today.
Well, until Elgan came running up towards the counter top, panting. "New plan, have you checked the group chat?"
Alora's brows creased. Apparently not, she was too busy minding Jun's business up in her head. "Not yet. What's wrong?"
"Kaia called in sick a little earlier and now we are left with even less people outside checking everyone's rounds and supervising the money and petitions. We really need you, Alora." Elgan pleaded and Alora rolled her eyes. "For real?! I was getting ready for a chill day in front of the computer!"
