Nora screamed as she was pulled through the door, unable to even put her other hand out to try and brace herself. Instantly, she was cast into darkness and for a second she worried that someone or something had taken her sight from her. Whatever had grabbed her wrist definitely hadn't felt human, but it was softer than rope or chain would be.
Cold metal seemingly rose up out of nowhere to meet her as she found herself being maneuvered onto a table. The second her hands found purchase against the smooth surface, she fought to try and push herself away, but more of the soft appendages gripped her, holding her still.
"Get off me!" She screamed into the darkness. "Let me go!"
The only reply that came was a series of clicking noises and her own cry as the lights came back on. Unable to bring her hands up to shield her eyes against the harsh overhead light, she screwed them shut instead and waited for them to adjust, slowly blinking them until she could keep them open without feeling like she was staring at the sun.
"Nora Caine, nice of you to join us." A voice came from somewhere past her feet. Nora tried to look down, but the light was too bright and blocked anything past it's borders. She did notice, however, that she had been strapped to the table rather than continue to be held down by whatever had her before.
"If you call being kidnapped joining you, then sure." She replied, tugging at her wrist restraints to see if they would give. They did not.
"We're not the ones who kidnapped you, Nora."
Nora scoffed. "Then what do you call snatching me from my home and strapping me to this table?"
"A necessary precaution."
"Against what?"
"It's simply a measure to ensure your safety, as well as our own."
Nora was fairly sure that there wasn't a version of her in any universe that could be considered a threat to anyone's safety. So what she had done to end up on this table feeling like she had been abducted by aliens, she had no idea.
"Who are you?" She asked. "Where am I?"
Silence followed her question and Nora was starting to get a little fed up of this game. Now that her eyes had adjusted a little more, she was able to look around and could see a few people lingering at the edge of the room. There was only one door in or out, and on the far wall was a very large mirror that she was sure was a two way mirror.
Catching sight of herself and the expression on her face, Nora looked away. She looked terrified.
"Do you know the villain Cataclysm?" A different voice asked.
Was this a trick question, they knew he'd... kidnapped wasn't the word. He'd taken her. They knew that, right?
The sound of screaming filled the air and it took Nora a second too long to realise the noise was coming from her.
Her whole body felt like it was on fire, her nerve endings being pulled apart one by one. Thankfully it was over as soon as it had begun and before Nora really even had a chance to figure out where it was coming from.
"Answer the question."
"Why are you doing this to me?"
"That's not what we asked you, Nora. Do you know the villain Cataclysm?"
"Yes."
"How do you know him?"
"He's my soulmate."
"How long have you known him?"
Nora had no frame of reference for how long she had been in his apartment. It had been November 1st when he and Radiant had come crashing through the wall in her apartment, but since leaving Cataclysm's apartment earlier, she couldn't recall seeing a date on anything.
