Bruno was lying on his bed, but felt nauseous. Extremely so. His eyes were open, but all he was seeing was darkness; and time felt as if it was frozen still.
He was sucked down, down a deep black hole, in what felt like the universe.
He felt trapped. So trapped, yet so free. He was very conscious of his breathing and he could hear it loudly, as his anxiety rose. It was a feeling he couldn't quite explain; nor could he put a finger on it. He felt like he was falling, then it came to a halt. He looked around.
The whole room was caught up in a whirlwind; And in the middle of it stood he, he who was previously trying to sleep, but could not.
Shapes and figures of different objects and people started to appear. They said different things, words, harsh, loud or low.
They would come closer, so much so that he could swear they could talk to him. But their eyes were blank. It wasn't him they were talking to; no, it was someone else.
And their words; they were muffled.
The sounds? Were distorted.
Just as distorted as the image had started to become. Every single figure was melting, but it also touched him in the process, in an aggressive manner.
And he? He was scared. Very scared. Was this a nightmare? Could he be dreaming? He felt like he wanted to scream; but as he opened his mouth to do so, no sound would come out. It was inaudible horror. He was alone.
What was this? Was this even real? He had seen the villagers attacking some sort of wild animal, and in the vision, he was that animal.
His heart pounded loudly. It had been 3 years after receiving his gift and he struggled a lot. He didn't seem to be able to control it, still. And it was extremely mentally taxing.
He had been losing sleep, had dark eyebags under his eyes, even at such a young age. Nobody seemed to understand him. Nobody but the figures he would see in those visions.
It was as if he had become as alien as they were.
Whenever he tried to explain to the villagers how he felt, they would give him a confused look and shrug him off.
"That's crazy, what are you talking about? You're seeing things before they happen? You hallucinate? Are you ill?"
His mother had told him not to talk to them about his gift. She found it to be very creepy and was almost ashamed and embarrassed that her son had it. Nothing good would come out of this! Or perhaps... It could? Somehow, seeing the future had to be useful, right?
Bruno snapped out of it, by hearing his own loud scream. His eyes stopped glowing green.
It wasn't real, no it wasn't real!
He couldn't discern what was real and what wasn't in the visions.
He couldn't know! How could he? And there was nobody there who knew what he was going through, to explain to him that it was absolutely normal. Nobody, other than himself.
Bruno was alone; or so he felt.
Because in reality, his sisters were still there, no matter what he was going through.
At that thought, he rest assured and crawled back inside his warm sheets, hoping to get the sleep he desperately needed.
