Minorin was discharged from the hospital. We thanked the nurses and the staff and we walked out from the hospital to head home. We were both pretty tired so continuing through the day would be draining. I pulled out my phone to check my feed and saw some memes and shitposts. Some posts were just straight up rants about their miserable life, but who am I to talk? My life isn't any different from them. I'm just as pathetic as everyone in this damn cursed society. Slave to capitalism and submissive to the elite aristocrats. I always go deep into thinking all the time, until Minori, again, interrupts my trance.

"Hey Akari, can we sit down for a moment? My legs are killing me.", Minori asked.

"Yeah sure let's sit over there.", as I point to the seats close by under the shade.

We both sat down and I continued checking my feed. Still the usual dose of memes, shitposts, and nonsensical rants that filled up my phone to the point where I just didn't read them. But I noticed something strange on my phone. The date. The date is different. It reads "June 11, 2021". 1 year advanced. I didn't mind it that much and just changed it back to 2020. But to be sure, I borrowed her phone.

Strange...

The date reads "June 11, 2021". Also a year advanced. "Why?", I said to myself. Minori isn't the type of person to change the dates on her device as she's quite forgetful with numbers, so tampering was out of the question. I felt weird. There was again a pressure on my chest.

I asked her, "Minorin, why does the date on your phone read 2021?", as I pointed to the phone's calendar.

Minori's eyes widened. She covered her mouth in shock and inhaled really deeply. She closed her eyes and sighed so deep, as if almost refusing to answer me at all. But then,

"B-but it IS 2021.", she answered seriously.

She continues with an emphatic gaze, "A lot has happened... Let's not talk about it today. Is it fine?"

I was still left with an unnerving feeling until all of a sudden...

TAP TAP

A man taps my shoulder from behind. I look behind me to see him. Oh. Right. I recognize this face. All too well.

"Hey y'all! What're you both doin' here?"

This young slang lad is Kagami Raito. He was my high school classmate until the 3rd year when he went overseas to study in England. A freakishly tall and lanky guy with blond hair. He's a guy who really loves all things foreign. Almost a little too much actually.

"C'mon guys! Let's get something to drink! My treat!", he continues.

"Wait, really?", Minorin and I asked him.

"Yeah! Let's go!"

We walked again for 5 minutes until we got to a cafe joint. We went inside and sat down at a table. I was feeling pretty exhausted so I'll probably get something cold. Minori seems tired too, but Raito... He seems as lively as ever. Some things really don't change.

A waitress comes to our table and asks for our orders.

"I'll have an iced americano. Make it ice cold HAHAHA. How about you guys?", Raito asked us.

"Give me a strawberry milkshake! Akacchi, tell him yours haha.", Minori said with a light chuckle.

"Milkshake huh. How mature. Anyway, I'll have a Latte."

We waited and waited but the drinks took forever. I think my perception of time has been broken ever since Minori fainted. I look to see Raito reading a book about European culture. What a delinquent bookworm. Minori still looks tired. She taps the table to the beat of the jazz music that is filling the cafe with a calming atmosphere. *Tap thump tap* she goes. I guess you can never take away a musician's rhythm even if you wanted to huh?
