Chapter 57

Ranboo POV

I watch as the bats flap their wings through the air acting as witches with them riding their own brooms through the clouds showing their shadow on the full moon that will reach its peak in moments I cannot even describe. I do not know where Schlatt is, and I do not know what he is currently up to at this time.

But I need to know. All I know is that there's a cave somewhere in this forest where he is currently headed to right now. The book of the history of the shadow ones is missing. I look through the couch it wasn't there. I look everywhere on the pile of clouds of dust if I could sense or see the book if it was covered with dust but there was nothing.

My heart is beating slamming against my skin. I run my hands through my hair in panic. "Where are you," I said my boots tapping the floor constantly as my body shivered in frustration. I push the cave door open glaring around the forest. I don't see a sign of Schlatt but I am heavily afraid that it is too late.

I flinch when I heard a loud grunt far to the left. I quickly moved my head to the sound and instantly run towards it recognizing the voice who was Schlatt. I kept mumbling random words such as the simple grass as I try to calm myself that I knew will never work. I run and run through the woods but then I stop when I saw the Mountain of Mysteries. 

I watch as the moonlight reflects on the lake as the light scatters around the flowing water on the waterfall. However, I didn't have time to glance at the beauty and appreciate the nature made by the gods. I only took a glance at my surroundings as I glare around me not knowing where the voice came from.

I wonder why the sound stopped here. In this stunning place, where the waterfalls from the cold mountains as it flows through the crystal clear lake where fishes swim around and where the leaves of the trees that fly around the atmosphere land on when the branches get weak; when the wind blows hard in a specific direction.

I don't understand why anyone would be here in the dark. I don't understand why Schlatt would be in this kind of place. Anyone can be in this place but Schlatt being here? No, he isn't the type of person to be coming into this quiet calm place, especially at this time. To calm himself he would either be hunting down innocent animals like mythical deers and maybe some baby rabbits for his own satisfaction.

I hear an old door creak open. I glance to where to sound came from and saw the flowing waterfall? I was confused, there was nothing there other than flowing water. And there was no visible entrance through the mountains or even a house on top of it. I make my way to the waterfall carefully as I hear the rocks and dead leaves crunch beneath my feet that made birds scatter everywhere in the sky.

When I reach beside the waterfall. I stare at it in confusion. I try to remember the specific spot where the voice came from but it was no use. I was sure that the voice came from inside those mountains; on the other side of that waterfall. But then the realization hits me. How could I forget? This world was mythical, filled with secrets and right now I am standing in front of a mountain.

The mountain of mysteries.

I remember that I have the water element. I point two of my hands pressing the palms close to each other as I slowly separate them bending my fingers separating them like tape slowly. I watch as my palms separate and as the water in front of me split into two halves. 

There behind the waterfall, before I even thought there was a secret behind it was a large door. But it wasn't closed. It was shut as it has never been opened for many years.

It was open.

I curse under my breath as I walk around the waterfall going on the other side of it. I lean against the wall and sigh peaking over inside. There I saw Schlatt who was holding the book of the history of the shadow ones. To be honest I kind of expected that but I looked further inside and saw him laughing hysterically. "Just a few for minutes," he says, "and you will finally be released!" he yells chuckling.

I didn't know exactly what he was doing. I only watch him read the book above the moonlight that was shown above him since there was a hole in the cave above him. 

Moments passed and I was getting bored. I didn't know what he was doing now but I only watch him reading the history of the shadow ones. I quickly turn away when I saw him stand up. I waited for a couple of seconds then I look back in the cave and saw him look up to the hole outside. He chuckled as he dropped the book to the floor as he waited for something to happen.

I know I shouldn't be here watching. I know I should be running for my life right now for what is about to happen. I know I should be at least trying to stop him to what he is about to do but I am to stunned at the action he is doing. I watch him take a step forward and bring up his hand to something that was in front of him.

I take a step inside the cave as I watch what he is doing. I hear him then laughing hysterically when he finally touched the object he was in front of right now. Then I saw red lights from the hole above shoot down to the thing in front of him. Red rays shooting down like light one by one.

He is laughing as if he finally achieved something he has been working on for years. Laughing as if he finally killed the person he had despised his whole life in. I stumble backward when I felt the strong blowing wind slam against me almost pushing me into the lake. I try to shout at Schlatt telling him to stop at whatever he is doing but he doesn't seem to hear me.

He doesn't flinch; he doesn't move but he only laughs as he held the now glowing object in front of him that is still getting shot by red rays from the night sky. Then I saw the unexpected happen. I saw Schlatt scream in pure agony as I saw him disappear from my sight getting sucked into the glowing object in front of him slowly from finger to back.

I gasp stunned at what just happened. I hear screams of horror and terror around me as the wind blows harder pushing me slowly as I try to take a step away from the cave. 

I don't wait any longer

I run

I run with pure sweat of fear in me. I don't mind the wind that is pushing me from side to side but I only run. I don't know exactly what is about to happen when the blooded moon reaches its peak. But I know what is shown in the book will happen. And I know it is not good.

My boots are colliding against the ground hard as I run pushing my body in front of me the boost my pace. I don't look back at what is going on behind me. But there is only one thing I should be doing right now.

Get to the palace and warn the prince

I feel as the fear in me grows; my hands beginning to shake, and my stomach beginning to ache because of the running. But I forget the pain and keep going like a fish that is swimming in the ocean trying to find its real home but in this situation, I am finding the place that is ruled by the most powerful people in this world.

I go back to reality and find myself trying to convince the knight in front of me to let me in. "I really cannot help you stranger" the knight sighed, "Maybe you should wait until tomorrow when the gala is finished. You see there are a lot of royals inside there right now. And I don't think they'll enjoy some random villager go barging in" he laughed using his monotone voice.

I swear I remember that monotone voice. I try to remember where it came from but then I remembered the time I met the prince for the first time. Gosh, I could remember that time until death. It was one of the most amazing things that happened to me. "You're Techno!" I exclaim making his eyes shoot open.

"You're that guy-"

"There's no time to explain. Remember Schlatt? You said he was the prisoner that escaped!" I said quickly turning around as I feel the wind getting stronger. I sigh as I ran my hands through my hair, "He's planning on something. Something big, and he just did it. Do you feel this wind blowing against our faces? He did that actually" I say

Techno sighed as he glared behind him that was the door, "Listen that's not enough information. I can't let you in-" he says. But he was cut off by his own vision when he saw a large dark cloud behind me that was coming closer to the gates of the kingdom at the speed of light. I look up and saw the blooded moon at its peak now fully red.

"Okaay, I take it back go warn the prince. Quickly!" Techno said in fear and worry as he pushed the door behind him harshly. I smile sadly as I take a step inside hearing the king's booming voice but I cut him off.
