"Tell me the plan again," Tony instructed, his hands on his hips.
With crossed arms, Jayden sighed. "We'll be going in a car to Times Square, and then look around in stores and wander around Central Park for a bit before coming back here."
"And how are you going to stay safe?"
"I'll stick with Happy. Theo will stay hidden away in my pocket, and I'll keep on my scarf so nobody spots my collar."
"If something goes wrong? If you both get separated?" he pushed, raising a brow.
"Then I use this," she said, lifting her arm to reveal her new smartwatch."I'll use the panic button if it's a big emergency."
He nodded with satisfaction. "If that fails, remember you have our and Fury's numbers as a backup." Her nose scrunched up at that; she still wasn't sure what to think of Gothic Pirate. "And as a backup to the backup, JARVIS is connected with an inbuilt tracker. I have you now. There's no escape!"
She stared at him flatly as he changed his pitch to sound like a generic cartoon villain. "I think I've got it."
"I sure hope you do, given the number of times he's had you recount it," Pepper said as she came in with Jayden's coat. "If only he were so pressing when it came to his own security."
"I thought you'd be proud. I'm teaching her the importance of safety. It's a big, bad world out there."
Pepper gave him a look and handed Jayden her coat, watching as she tugged it on. "It's sounding a lot more like paranoia to me."
"What is that supposed to mean?" he griped, much to the amusement of Jayden. "I'm only hounding her as much as you do me. We could go as far as to say that this is your fault."
"I only do that to you, dear, because I know you never listen," Pepper notified, making Jayden snort and Tony pout in offence.
She bounced on her feet, her hands rubbing together, unable to keep still. "Can we go now, please?"
"We gotta wait till Ha-"
"Sir, Mr. Hogan has arrived with the car," JARVIS curtly interrupted, making his brows shoot up into his hairline.
"Speak of the devil, and he shall appear."
"Let's go! Let's go!" Jayden exclaimed, stealing Pepper's hand and dragging her along as she rushed to the elevator.
She got as far as stepping inside before she paused, eyes widening dramatically.
"Wait! I need to get something!" she cried, rushing by Tony and down the hallway to her bedroom.
"What could you possibly-"
She reappeared a minute later with an object clutched tightly in her hand. Tony stared at her unrelentingly, and she grinned, holding it out for him to see.
"Mini Thor."
His curiosity turned into bewilderment. "Seriously?"
"He's my good-luck charm."
"Yeah, sure. Whatever you say."
"You're the one who said it!"

Inside the elevator, she continued to tap her foot as a release for the wild energy buzzing through her. Theo grumbled on her shoulder, whacking her lightly with his tail in an attempt for her to stop, not liking the way it was shaking his perch. She ignored him, as she often did, and grinned. The concept of being in the outside world without any great worry of danger hanging over her was alien, yet just as exciting.
