The guards woke her at the early hour of six. They gave her no time to come around before hauling her off to the education room. It was empty besides the usual bowl of porridge and a glass of water on the table. With a series of yawns, she sat and had breakfast. When she finished, it wasn't long before Doctor Terries arrived with medical supplies. No words were exchanged as he clinically redressed her wounds from the Reminder the day before.
When he finished, he retrieved a clump of clothing from the guard outside and placed it on the table. Jayden frowned as he moved back to the door.
"Get dressed," he instructed, leaving the room.
Her brows furrowed as she shuffled to the pile, seeing civilian clothing, including a coat, jeans, and a scarf. Despite her confusion, she dressed quickly. After winding the scarf around her collar, she knocked on the door, signalling she was finished. Terries re-entered with a syringe in hand. She recoiled, but his steady gaze made her still.
"Sit."
She complied tentatively. "W-what are we doing?"
"You'll find out soon enough. Head back."
She gulped, knowing what was coming, but still obediently tilted her head to give him access to her throat. The pinch made her flinch, and he pushed her shoulder, guiding her back so she didn't fall forward when it kicked in. It didn't take long for everything to spin, her head going heavy, and she knew no more.

She was sitting when she awoke. Groaning, her eyes cracked open in a squint, and her head pounded as it protested against the light. She peered around, quickly deducing that she was in an aircraft.
She rolled her neck, and from how it ached, she could gather that at least a few hours had passed since she was put in this position. As she shifted to get comfortable, there was a tug on her wrist. The handcuff attaching her to the armrest almost made her scoff. As if she could go anywhere if they were in the air.
To her disappointment, she couldn't spot any nearby windows. The seat opposite her was empty, as was the rest of the cabin. She basked in the silence, enjoying herself being out of the dull facility. Even if it was for reasons she was yet to know.
She jolted as she had a dreadful thought. What if she was on the plane because they were moving her? Did they find out about her meddling the day before? Had her chances of rescue dropped to zero?
Her flurry of thoughts was cut off as the entire jet rattled. For all she knew, the jet was falling out of the sky. The plane jerked one last time before the shaking stopped entirely. Her body slumped, easing her tense grip.
"You're awake. Good." Doctor Terries' approach made her straighten.
She stared at his peculiar appearance. Instead of his formal attire, he wore a winter coat with jeans and trainers. He ignored her bewilderment and tucked his hands behind his back, cooly regarding her. "I'll give you only one warning, JYD2641. Do not attempt anything foolish."
When she didn't reply, he tilted his head, his lips pressed together, displeased. "Yes, sir," she quickly nodded.
He made a hmph and unlocked her trapped wrist. His expression eased, but the tension between them did not. He yanked her from her seat and, with a controlling hand on her shoulder, led her out, down the steps, and into the car.
As she turned to the window, Terries made a small gesture, and the windows went opaque, with a partition separating them from the view of the front seats. The car rumbled, and she clipped on her seatbelt, her fingers wrung as the silence of their boxed isolation boiled.
