"Please stop!"
"Now JYD2641. Discipline and Reminders are fundamental to your training. So, no, I will not."
She cried out with the sharp hit of the whip, her wrists, chained above, panged as they were forced to bear the burden of her weight as she desperately tried to arch away from the burning licks. The room teetered, either from the force of the impact or the dizziness it resulted in.
The following impact was particularly intense, forcing out any air she had left in her lungs. She wheezed, and her feet brushed against the floor as she tried to gain footing and uphold her composure.
Two consecutive lashes sliced deeply, and her back screamed as her vision went white, and she vaguely felt herself soundlessly screaming. Well, she thought it soundless, but it was impossible to know, as her hearing had degraded to a buzz. Doctor Terries was talking, but all it was to her was a clash of muffled noise. When it went silent, she received another hit, followed by a cruel hand gripping the back of her hair and pulling until her neck profoundly protested.
The hand tugged, making her groan and blink stutteringly at the ceiling. Her ears popped, and the sharp voice of her doctor was suddenly a lot clearer.
"I don't like being ignored, JYD2641."
"'M sorry, couldn't-couldn't hear," she croaked, her throat burned. It mustn't have been so soundless after all.
"I expect you to listen when I speak to you."
She didn't reply as she was too busy gasping for breath. Her hair was released, and then a dozen sharp prods of what she could only describe as tiny blades suddenly dug into the wounds on her back.
Her vision flared as her body jerked forward. Any self-dignity was long gone.
"Answer," Terries ordered, calm as though her torture wasn't happening.
"O-okay, I-I'll do better! P-Please!"
Half of the blades retracted, and Terries' hand, which Jayden caught through a blurring gaze, was covered in a thick, red, sickening ooze. His fingers gripped her chin and brought her head back to meet his cool eyes. She cringed. The liquid was warm and sticky. It seeped onto her face, and the smell of copper quickly invaded her nose. Blood. Her blood.
The remaining fingers on her back curled up in warning when her eyes automatically drifted away. The jolt of pain made her snap her vision back to his stare, and she pushed her energy into glaring at him, but, to her pained frustration, all she received was cruel amusement.
"I will repeat myself: how many lashes have you been subjected to during this session?"
"I-I don't know, sir."
"I instructed you to count," he scolded, his nails digging painfully into wounds.
"S-sorry."
He made a 'hmptf' before he removed both hands from her. Her body sank in relief but remained tense, knowing the Reminder was not yet over.
