Hunter and I kept talking until it hit 12:00, As Hunter recognized the time, he shot up, "wait, I do have something to do today! And it involves you." He said as I started to stand up, "get dressed, I don't mind if you go first" Hunter says as I grab a change of clothes, "thanks" I say as I smile and start to walk to the bathroom, shutting the door I think about what I might be doing. When I finish, I walk out and put my shoes on then sitting on the pallet to wait for Hunter. "You know you can sit on my bed right?" I look at him and go over to sit on his bed. "I will be right out" he says as I nod. Looking around I think about what has been happening recently. Mom's dead, my mind starts to register the concept of my mom being deceased until I break into a fit of sobs. Trying to muffle my sounds I cover my mouth while I try to sniffle quieter. I realize that I never had time to register the event of my moms death with all that has been going on. I hear the bathroom door open as I try to wipe my tears as fast as I can but they keep coming. "Are you okay?!" I hear from in front of me, I open my eyes and see Hunter in his guard outfit without the mask on, in which has been tossed to the ground. "What's wrong?" Hunter asks me, as I try to reply my voice goes hoarse and more tears run down my face.
"What do you need? I can get you water" Hunter asks, I nod and he goes out of the room in a flash. With tears still running down my face I try to take deep breaths, but nothing helps. I start to remember my sisters face and the state my mom was in when I first found her dead, I start to hyperventilate as I still attempt at taking deep breaths. "I got water, I told Kikimora that we will be late" I hear Hunter say as he comes with a glass of water, I desperately want to ask who Kikimora is but I decide that it's not the time for that. I grab the glass with shaky hands and start to take big gulps, Hunter is looking at me with a soft expression. One that doesn't tense up right when I make eye contact. As I take the glass away from my mouth I finally can make semi-coherent words, "I'm so sorry I made us late, I don't know what came over me" I say as I take heavy gasps, "do not apologize, you are fine and if Kikimora asks any questions, just answer with the most ambiguous answers" I nod, "Who's Kikimora might I ask?" "Kikimora is emperor Belos's assistant" "oh" is all I say as I start to get up, my face is sticky and dry as I make my way to the bathroom, "I'm just washing my face off" I tell Hunter and he nods.
As I splash water on my face I hear foot steps and out of the corner of my eye, Hunter is leaning on the doorframe waiting for me. I grab a towel and wipe my face before I check if my clothes or any of my hair is out of place. Once I finish I give a thumbs up to Hunter. I walk out to see him grabbing his mask and putting it on. Hunter opens the door and I walk out, him following shortly after. "Follow me" Hunter says, "what are we doing?" I ask. "You are meeting other high coven members" Hunter says and I silently gulp.

"We are here" Hunter says as I snap out of my anxiety induced trance. "Okay" I say, we walk into a big room, "Finally" I hear a feminine voice say from below me. I look down and see a woman with red skin and a shirt that covers her mouth. "What made you so late?" She asks, "well- "I was talking to them" she says after interrupting Hunter. As she points to me I remember what Hunter said to me earlier. "It just was a personal thing, nothing more." I say, she nods as she moves bad over to some big guards. "That is acceptable, My name is Kikimora, I am the emperors assistant." I nod as she goes on about Guard captains and introduces me to the various people who hold that role. Afterwards she goes over rules, I learn about many things like the hatred that Belos holds for wild magic.
"Do you know what position you are being assigned?" She asked me. "That is a question for me, (Y/N) still needs to learn more magic before they are eligible for being in the coven. When they are able to join the coven however they will be my second in command." Hunter explains as he walks closer, "good to know" Kikimora responds. "You two are dismissed" Hunter takes my hand and pulls me out of the room. "Are you alright?" I ask, "I'm fine, just a little annoyed." I nod and we quickly arrive at Hunters room. Hunter opens the door as I walk in and I sit on the pallet. Hunter pulls his mask off, setting it on a dresser before he goes and changes. I push my back against the end of the bed as I pull my legs up into my chest. Wrapping my arms around my legs I rest my head in the crevasse between my chest and my thighs.
I still feel weird, like I'm going to cry at any moment. My throat is tightening as I hear a loud noise. As my heart rate heightens I start to hyperventilate, trying to calm myself down I try to take deep breaths. Hearing the bathroom door opening, I start to panic more. "Are you okay?" I hear, I nod. Someone sits next to me, "look at me" I raise my head, seeing Hunter I start to panic more. "Calm down, you're fine." He says, "I'm sorry, I don't know what is wrong with me today." Hunter hums as he gently puts a hand on my shoulder, "I may be strict but I'm not horrible, you don't have much to do for long. You have tomorrow and the day after that off." I nod, feeling a wave of relief I didn't know I needed.
"Do you want food?" Hunter asks, I nod as he stands while giving me his hand. Being pulled up, Hunter walks out of the room, still hand in hand. "Where are we going?" "What?" "What do you want for food. We can go anywhere, I don't mind" my mind runs blank as I stop while Hunter looks back at me, "well?" "I don't know any food places around here"
"What did you have to eat then?"
"Anything that's available, even if it isn't all that appetizing."
"Do you mean?.."
"Yes"

A/N: I was wrong, I could get it out today! If you don't understand what Hunter was insinuating with the "do you mean?" He means basically bugs and disgusting food. Also apologies for the seemingly rushed introduction to Kikimora. We really don't know much about her other than her hatred for Hunter (which Hunter noticed, that's why he left so fast.) Hunter also seems like he trusted the reader too fast, I dunno that's just how I feel about this chapter. I think Hunter would be quick to help others who have no one else as he's in a similar situation. He doesn't fully trust the reader but he is developing a soft spot for them.
