<< Books are the escape >>
Edward sped Casey out of the house and deep into the forest, Jasper following suit. So many things were running Jaspers head, What the hell was happening. Once they were deep enough into the forest, Edward stopped and set Casey down gentley and backed away. Jasper was next to his brother, about to walk over to the girl, until Edward stopped him " she needs to let it out Jasper " He said, with a hand on his chest.
Casey felt like the air was knocked out of her lungs. She couldn't breathe. She sat on her knees till she couldn't take it anymore, and she screamed. A wave of purple energy emitted from the girl, flatting the surrounding trees, and nearly knocking over the two vampires. As the energy diminished, Jasper took careful steps toward the Boston girl, not to startle her.
Casey started sobbing, not caring anymore. Jasper lent down to hug the girl, as his hands made their way around her body, she melted into him. Casey knew she could trust him, she didnt know how she knew, but she did. She couldn'stop the waterfall of tears running down her face. Jasper send a wave of calmness to the girl, hoping to ease what she was feeling.
" i-i cant b-breathe " Casey said chocking on her words. Edward lent down next to the pair " Casey, Casey look at me, do what I do okay" He said, taking in unneeded deep breathes, Casey mimiking his actions, but it didnt seem to help. she kept trying, but it was no use. It was like her brain shut its self off from thinking, until Jasper started humming her mother's lullaby. Caseys breathing began to level out as she hummed along with Jasper, " there ya go, Casey" Edward said, After a few miuntes, Casey had closed her eyes, falling asleep in Jaspers arms. Jasper scooped her up bridal style, running her back to Cullens home.
After a couple of hours, Casey woke up, yet again but she was in a different setting. She saw a bookshelf, filled to the brim with books, new and old. A Ceiling to floor window, and a chaise longue sofa, where she was placed. She was in someone's room. She got up and walked toward the bookshelf, seeing books from old to new The Plastic Age By Percy Marks to Sanditon By Jane Austen. " I like to read " A voice said, behind Casey, making her jump out of her skin.
She turned around to see the honey blonde vampire she had grown fond of in the past three days. " It passes the time " He added " I bet " Casey said, her voice growing hoarse. " how are you feeling? " Jasper asked " Fine, worn out, but fine " Casey said.
A feeling of forgetfulness washed over Casey, then it hit her " Brair, is she okay? " Casey asked remembering the little girl " Shes okay, shes asleep in Rosalise and Emmetts room " Jasper explained, helping the brunett girl ease her nerves, but they came bubbling back up when her phone rang and she saw the caller. 'Momma.' " Shit, Shit, Shit! " Casey cursed, " what, whats wrong? " Jasper asked, worried " My mom, she's at home and I'm not there, and the house looks like someone robbed it " Casey said as she answered " CASEY, WHERE THE HELL ARE YOU?! " She heard her mother scream
" Momma, I can explain " Casey said " oh? So you can explain why there's a broken window in the kithen, knives are on the floor and theres burn marks on the ground outside?!" Melissa said angerly " yes, actually I can" Casey said " Really, I'm all ears " Melissa said. Casey told her mother everything, and her mother quite literally drove like a bat outta hell to the Cullens home.
Casey and Jasper made their way outside and prepared themselves for the screaming match of the century. Melissa was a mix of anger and worry as she jumped out of her car " Casey, your okay " She said as she hugged her daughter, " I told you I was fine momma " Casey said hugging her mother back " Come on lets get you home " Melissa said as she gently pulled Casey toward the car " No not until you give me a real answer " Casey said " what do you mean ' real answer ' Cas? " her mother questioned " You knew about everything, about me and these powers, yet you never told me. You knew about this town and everything in it, and yet you decided to move back here and run the risk of getting us killed " Casey exclaimed.
" I didnt' tell you about your powers to protect you, I didn't know how to help you control them " Melissa said " You could've called granny, you said she had these powers " Casey said as if it was obvious " or did you not even try cause your not on good terms with her " Casey added " I did try to get her to help, but not with you " Melissa said, making Caseys head fill with curiosity " what, what are you talking about mom" Casey asked
" Hayley, she had the gifts to" Melissa said " So what ' oh just help one kid and shes help the other one later' type situation mom, really " Casey scoffed " you dont understand Casey, your grandmother didnt help! She only made Hayleys powers more uncontrolable! " Melissa shouted " That's the reason she died that night " She cried
Casey stood there in shock. Her mother told her that it was her fault. The crash was Casey's fault. " no, stop lying mom, STOP IT! " Casey cried " I'm not ,baby im not" Melissa said " Dad said he left because he couldn't look me in the face after the crash. THAT IT WAS MY FAULT AND YOU LET HIM TELL ME THAT! " Casey shouted as tears spilled down her face. Jasper had backed up long ago to avoid butting in to the mother and daughter feud. " You let me believe that I killed my sister! Do you know how fucked up that is!" Caesy yelled.
