A doctor ruched in, interrupting the moment of bliss in this world of absolute hell.
"He- He's alive." She said in bewilderment as if she didn't believe her own words
They all just stared up at her, a look of pure confusion and hope on their faces
"You can see him, if you would like" she said, all three men
immediately standing up from the spot on the carpeted ground they had found themselves, the officer returning to his seat in the waiting room, Dream and Sapnap following the nurse, tears still falling from their eyes."Here you go.." She said, opening the door for the boys to walk in. Them both immediately freezing when that saw their best friend, who had just died in their arms only 20 minutes ago, sat up in the hospital bed almost fully, smiling back at them with the faintest, yet most visible smile the could imagine.
"Georgie..? Is it- is it really you?" Dream hesitated to ask, as if he was expecting him to turn to dust at any moment and leave him again.
Before he could respond, Dream and Sapnap had embraced him in a hug that seemngly lasted a lifetime
"I-I love you guys" George said honestly. He did, he really loved being able to wake up knowing they were going to be there for him ever step of the day
"I love you too gogy" Dream replied, George not understanding the untold truth behind it
"I love you Georgie." Sapnap said, in a quiet raspy voice
"Aww, Sapnaps crying! He really does care Dream!" George joked, trying to lighten the mood, although it was nearly impossible due to as of 5 minutes ago their best friend, and the love of Dreams life, was dead.
And they sat there. For about 5 minutes. Embracing that moment, knowing nothing would be so perfect, and yet so horribly terrible at once, ever again.
Sapnap spotted a guitar across the room, and in an act of trying to cheer everyone he asked Dream something he never thought he would find asking again...
"Dream, Do you think you could play Georgie and I a song..?" Dream sat in shock and remembrance, Everything taking him back to her. Natalie. The girl who he was convinced he would marry. Every night he would play her a song and his friends would make fun of him for it, but he knew that she was the one. She died, in a fire 2 years ago. Now Dream was bi, and in love with a man, what would she think of him..?
Sapnap regretted asking the question as he looked at his friends, his eyes glassy with tears
"Never-" Dream stood up and went to the guitar
"Ehem.. Sorry its been a while." He hasn'r played since the fire.
He strummed the strings, remembering some cords
Dream took in a sharp breath, looking up at the door before starting and seeing the officer standing there. He smiled at Dream, and Dream looked back down at the guitar beginning to plat
Wait, I'm wrong
Should have done better than this
Please, I'll be strong
I'm finding it hard to resist
So show me what I'm looking for
He started smiling into the lyrics
George smiled at him, Sapnap did too. The song he had written when he was 19, by far his best one, and favored by all his friends. Including her. That's why they knew it was the hardest to play.
Save me from being confused
Show me what I'm looking for
Show me what I'm looking for
Oh, Lord
Dream continued, his eyes growing tearful due to the events of the last few hours, and if he was being honest, years. These past 2 had been the hardest, he's mad mistakes, but also his life had changed for the better
I've wanted this for so long
Mistakes become regrets
I've learned to love abuse
Please, show me what I'm looking for
Save me, I'm lost
Oh, Lord, I've been waiting for you
I'll pay any cost
Save me from being confused
Show me what I'm looking for
Show me what I'm looking for
Oh, Lord
The officer, and the man who seemed like he would be a good friend, stood in the doorway mesmerized, Sapnap caught his gaze and smiled at him with a hopeful smile.
Show me what I'm looking for
Show me what I'm looking for
Show me what I'm looking for
Save me, I'm lost
Oh, Lord, I've been waiting for you
I'll pay any cost
Just save me from being confused
Dream was into it now, tears falling from his face, emotion truly showing through his singing. George was astonished, his friend was so skilled, his voice absolutely incredible.
Wait, I'm wrong
I can't do better than this
I'll pay any cost
Save me from being confused
Show me what I'm looking for
Show me what I'm looking for
Show me what I'm looking for
Show me what I'm looking for
Oh, Lord
Dream stopped, opening his eyes, only then to realize the tears
"Dream it was, incredible" George said, Sapnap agreeing. Dream smiled at them, putting the guitar back and leaving the room to talk to the officer, giving George and Sapnap a "I'll be back" Look on the way out.
"So, you sing, Your nice, Your good at speeding, and your name after a fantasy world. Seems like I know along about you, but you don't know much about me." He chuckled slightly
"Yeah, like your name." Dream said, wheezing
"I like your laugh." The officer said in a mocking voice
"I like your shirt, and I'm sure I would like your name too" Dream replied not taking the jokes
"Thanks, Bi pride yk, and my name is Asher." He said, chuckling. But Dream standed in awe, it wasn't irony, it was o purpose.
"You and your boyfriend seem really close, I'm glad his okay" Asher said, filling the silence
"Yeah me too, We aren't uhm, we aren't dating though..." He mumbled silently
Asher had a surprised look on his face
"Oh, sorry my bad I just- shit. I'm sorry that was
