chapter 14

When I get back to the bus everyone looks up at me like I am crazy.

"Where have you been?" Trevor asks"We have all been worried sick?" The thought that he was thinking of me makes my stomach flutter.

"I was just visiting a friend."

"That's no excuse!" snaps Trevor. I give him a glare and think about bringing up his little misshapp but i dont want to drag everybody down so I just let it go and head over to my bunk.

I close my eyes and put my earbuds in on full blast. About an hour later someone hops in my bed and sits next to me. I pull out one of my earbuds and look over to see its Trevor. I roll my eyes and blow out breath.

"Look, I'm sorry." he says."It's just that i was scared that something happened to you."

I blush when he says this. I pull out my other earbud to show that he has my full attention. He looks down at my phone probably to see what I am listening to. It read 18 by Anarbor, one of my favourite songs. I look up from my phone that is sitting in between me and Trevor to see that Trevor is looking at me. Our eyes meet and we sit there in silence just looking at eachother for about 5 minutes. He then quickly looks away, things become very awkward.

"Sarah and Toby went out to get food, I wasn't hungry and you seemed busy so they just decided to go get it and bring you back some."

"Thanks for thinking of me." I say quietly as if someone besides us was here.

"I'd always think of you." he says this in a way that makes him sound like a 12 year old boy as he shrugs his shoulder

Our eyes meet again and this time we stare for what seems like forever.

Trevor I'm- but I'm stopped before I can say anything because he leans in and kisses me.At first I am in shock but then the feelings take over. Our lips in contact for years it seems like, even though it has only been a matter of seconds. I pull away and we stare at eachother for a few seconds, then break into laughter. Not an obsessive laughter but the kind where you almost just chuckle. You could tell that we were happy.

For the first time in years, I am generally happy.
