Today in science class, I learned about how reptiles and birds lay amniotic eggs. Here's the definition:

"a shelled egg in which an embryo develops within a fluid-filled amniotic sac and is nourished by a yolk."

People are like eggs. We all have some sort of shell. Some are fragile and crack at the slightest touch, and some are tough and resist water, pathogens, and damage. Every egg has a different color: splotchy, plain white, brown, maybe pale blue.
Every eggshell is pretty, but what's inside is even more beautiful. When the shell cracks, we are afraid of being exposed and getting hurt.
But the small, vulnerable heart inside is the treasure that the shell has protected, and now has revealed.
The promise of a new life.
