I ran into my fathers arms.

"Papa I missed you so much." I said

"I missed you too kaykay" my dad embraced me in her arms.

"I missed you too dad." Kj says as he stood behind me.

"I missed you too uhh—Kj" my dad says

Kj and my father never were really the affectionate type but they did love each other.

"So how's life been? How have you guys been?" My dad asked me and Kj

"You know, just the usual, I came back from the dead recently." Kj says

"Who killed you? I will kill them!" My dad says as he went all over protective mode.

My dad was different around me and Kj then he was around anyone else, if you would have met him you would have thought he was a total lunatic, in which he is but he's better when he's would Kj and I

"What about your mother?"

"Dead."

"Ashes."

Me and Kj said at the same time.

"Sense of humor from me, radishing." My dad smiled

"I don't think joking about our dead mother is funny kayla." Kj says

I rolled my eyes.

"When you burn something what's the outcome?" I crossed my arms.

"You still shouldn't joke about it." Kj says

"Oh son...you can't take a joke? That's the parker in you" my dad says

"Dad I hope you know you are a parker too." Kj says

"But not like your grandmother...she was so kind, and then there's me." My dad chuckled.

"We can save the pity party later, it's time to get your stuff ready, cause tonight we are getting out of here...it's time you come home papa." I assured

He smiled before he held the bag of pork rinds in my direction.

"Want some?" He asked me and Kj.

"You know I do!" Kj says

"Uhh—hi." Hope startled me.

"Uh..hi?" I asked as I read the book in front of me.

"You don't talk much." Hope says

"You don't ask much." I said still not looking up from my book.

"You said we could be friends." Hope says

"Yes, I suppose I did say that...why you must bother me when I'm reading?" I asked her as I turned to look at her.

"I just wanted to see what you were doing." She smiled

She has such a pretty smile.

"Well, as I said, I'm reading but if you are bored there's always a party being planned around somewhere." I said before turning back to my book.

She sighed before she shut my book which made me look at her again.

"Why can't you read me instead?" She asked in a low tone before she bit her bottom lip.

"And what exactly does that mean?" I pressed my lips into a thin line

"Get to know me.." she says
