It's been weeks since Elijah and Phoenix have seen or spoken to each other. It's been kicking Elijah in the stomach repeatedly. He stood up from the bench putting his hockey gear in his bag. He heard the sound of heels clicking on the ground behind him. Elijah turned around seeing Phoenix leaning against the wall.

Phoenix walked into the arena putting Elijah's leatherman jacket on. She saw him putting his gear away into his bag and smiled softly leaning against the wall.

"Come on let's get out of here." Phoenix said picking up his bag holding it in her hands.

Elijah chuckled softly taking the bag from her wrapping his arm around her waist walking out of the building. He looked down at her kissing the top of her head.

Phoenix smiled softly then heard her phone ringing in her back pocket. She pulled her phone out of her pocket looking at the caller then looked up at Elijah answering it. " Mom? What- Mom slow down and breathe. Tell me where you are." Phoenix hanged up looking at Elijah "I gotta go. It's my dad. He's been in a car accident."

Elijah pulled out his keys handing them to her "don't wreck my truck." He said pulling her into a hug then let her go "go Phoenix I'll catch the bus home. NOW GO!" He said pushing her out of the door.

1:45am

A family. A family that will move mountains for each other without hesitation. That's what the Maze family did and they will continue to do it. Phoenix walked into the hospital with her mother and sister. She walked to the nurses station " Chet Maze's room number now." She said waiting for the nurse to answer her.

The nurse looked up at Phoenix "Chet Maze isn't accepting visitors at the moment. So you'll have to wait until he wants to see you." He said looking back at the computer.

Serenity smiled softly at the nurse the rolled her eyes walking to the elevator with her daughters. " Oh. Chet Morgan Maze the second WILL BE SEEING HIS WIFE AND DAUGHTERS ON THIS DAY!" She said getting onto the elevator as it closed.

Ailee looked over at her sister and her mother as they walked over to the elevator stepping inside. She looked over at Phoenix for a moment then heard the elevator open and walked out of the elevator down the hallway with Phoenix and Serenity behind her.

Phoenix walked out of the elevator down the hallway looking for her father's room. She heard her brothers voice and stood in the doorway seeing her father laying in the bed with wires around him. Her heels clicked against the pavement as she sat down in the chair next to the bed holding her father's hand. " Papa what were you doing to get into a car accident at 12 in the morning." She said seeing a female doctor walk into the room.

Neena's heels clicked against the pavement as she walked to the room knocking on the door. She seen all the heads turn to her and smiled softly walking into the room. " I'm Doctor Neena Clark-Thompson. I'll be Mr. Maze's doctor for the remainder of the night." She said putting the chart down and washed and dried her hands. Neena picked up the chart looking through it "Mr. Maze I'm gonna send up for a Head CT and a full work up. Just to make sure we don't miss anything or that you won't need surgery. Don't worry your in good hands." She said patting his shoulder and walking out of the room.

2:35am

Phoenix walked out of the hospital seeing Elijah in the waiting room. She smiled softly walking towards him sitting beside him laying her head on his shoulder.

Elijah seen Phoenix walk into the waiting room and smiled softly as she laid her head on his shoulder. " Phoenix go home it's literally 2:35 in the morning." He said putting his hand in hers.

Phoenix let out a sigh then looked up at him " I can't leave him Elijah. He's my father." She said holding his hand in hers.

Elijah looked down at her for a moment. He stood up still holding her hand in his. "Then at least let me meet him." He said brushing her hair behind her ear rubbing her cheek softly.

Phoenix stood up with him looking up at him shaking her head then letting go of her hand. "No. Elijah he'll make me move back to Dallas with my family. You can't meet him. Not ever." She said running her hands through her hair.

Elijah let out a sigh "what are you so afraid of Phoenix? It's not your dad's a mass murder or a rapist. He's flesh and blood. So he'll have to get over the fact that I'm dating his daughter."

Phoenix looked at him "YES EXACTLY THATS WHAT HE IS ELIJAH! HES A MASS MURDER. HES FLESH AND BLOOD BUT HE WONT LET ME FREE! WHY CANT YOU SEE THAT!" She said rolling up her jacket sleeve "I'm his ashtray so just let me go. Elijah you leave to let me go."

Elijah looked at the cigarette burns on her arms as she rolled her sleeves up. " THEN HE SHOULD BE IN JAIL PHOENIX! HE COULD HAVE KILLED YOU BY DOING THIS!" He said gripping her arm " WHY WOULD YOU LET HIM DO THIS! YOUR NOT HIS ASHTRAY. Your flesh and blood." He said letting go of her arm ad tears rolled down his cheek.

Phoenix snatched her arm away from him rubbing it softly seeing tears roll down his cheek and wiped them away with the sleeve of her shirt. " I hate the way you make me feel Elijah. It's a weakness but I'm guessing that's what makes me human. I...I love you Elijah."

Elijah felt her wipe the tears away then put his hand on hers "say it again."

"I love you" Phoenix said looking at him.

And there it was. Those 3 words that he always wanted to hear from someone other than his aunts and mother.
