I was just sitting on the single sofa and I was facing the artworks of the Sultana Aleziana. I'm on the second page, I've seen it before but I'm looking at it again.
I could do nothing but marvel at the beauty of her handworks, but it still puzzles me why she needs a mentor. She doesn’t need a Pro artist, all she needs is confidence.
Because of that she lacked, she lacked confidence the reason why she could not see her artworks as a beautiful and creative artworks.
I continued on page number three and this is the page where I stopped earlier, this scenery is very common with artists, because this kind of concept is so beautiful and the pattern is easier to make.
I moved to the fourth page, on this page a butterfly is drawn, a violet butterfly with beautiful wings. She is very good at drawing, to do something ordinary but she can turn it into magical artwork.
Even though this page is just a butterfly, I can still say that she did it with passion and feelings. I can still see the bold pencil and the color pattern but it amazes me.
Looking at and analyzing this kind of artwork is not my passion but when we are talking about the artworks of the Sultana, I am ready to finish this whole pad today just so I can understand why she needs an art mentor.
Not that I’m complaining, why does she need me for art? in fact, she is already good and she can develop it on her own. She doesn’t need me, she doesn’t need me here.
But when my mission to Habriel comes to mind, I just thank the Sultana because she hired me as a mentor, it will be easier for me to work that way because I get closer every time we have a study.
And what makes me nervous from the beginning until now is, what if I get caught? I will definitely die. Sultana’s hijab covering her and Sultana Aleziana’s full body dress was a big obstacle for me to finish my mission.
"You've been staring at that drawing before. Is something wrong?". Zabea asked. I looked at her and lowered the pad to the glass table.
"No, no problem Zabea. I'm just wondering why the Sultana needs a mentor when she's so good at drawing, painting and making abstracts?". I asked in a low voice only, but just right for Zabea to hear.
Zabea was also silent and she continued to wipe the large vases.
"Did you know that the Sultana can draw?". I asked all of a sudden.
I picked up the pad again and moved to the next page, on this page is a sketch of a horse, every shape, angle, curves and shading of this drawing is like the work of a pro, if only for me, she's a pro at such things.
I can say that she loves drawing things but I just wonder why she needs to explain to me the reason using this pad when she can tell me directly?
"Zabea?". I call her name, she stopped cleaning and looked at me.
"Did you know that the sultana can draw?". I asked for the second time.
She bent down and let go of the swab she was holding.
"I don't know. The Sultana is very secretive and very sacred as I told you before, I don't know anything about her but all I can say is, you have to understand everything the Sultana says. She is good at hiding the answer and giving a hint in some things that she can use just to convey what she wants to convey. ". Zabea's long explanation. I frowned and scratched my nape because of what she said. Very deep.
"I don't understand Zabea". The only thing I can say.
"What is your purpose why are you here?". She asked me. I suddenly looked at her because of her question.
"To teach the Sultana whatever she wants to know". I simply said. I don't know if what she was saying meant anything but I still answered her question correctly.
"When you admit to yourself what your purpose for why you're here Mr. Ferderico, I'm sure you'll also know what the Sultana's purpose is and why she needs you here". She said, I am full of questions because of what Zabea is saying now.
What she said was complicated. She is very deep in giving information.
“I have a purpose why I’m here and that is to educate the Sultana enough about Art”. My only answer.
"Say that to yourself over and over Caio". She stood up with the broom and approached the table to fill the glass of orange juice.
I picked up the pad again and moved to the next page. And on this page is a boy holding a map, his face blurs so I had a hard time studying. In the upper part of the pad there is a written sentence.
"This is the first time I saw you". Words written and in italics. Her penmanship is beautiful and her emotions, she can express it with paper and pencil.
Zabea put down the orange juice and she offered it to me, I just nodded at her and looked closer at this page.
From the map held by the boy there is a chest and a crown, it seems like everything here is a puzzle and will really confuse your brain because of those things with deep meanings.
"Who could this child be? You know Zabea, an artist can't engrave or make a painting or drawing if they don't see anything like this. Like this child, I'm sure the Sultana saw it that's why there's this kind of sketch ". I feel like a detective looking for meaning using these pads.
And if I think about it, yes. I need to study it and look at it carefully so I can understand Sultana Aleziana’s reason. Does she have a sad past?
"You're right Caio, maybe the Sultana saw something in that boy so she drew.". She said, she was on my side and even she, was also looking at the pad. I brought my index finger to the paper and stroked the drawing.
I moved to the next page, this time it is colored but the content of this page is still the same as before. This is still the child on page number six.
"Why is this boy's face blurry and he has no details on the face". I asked myself.
"What kind of art is that?". Zabea asked.
"I don't know but for me I can say that this child was included in the Sultana's past or else she saw this child in a memory. Dream. Semiosis. Nightmare.". I said in a weak voice.
I close my eyes because of this art, when I was at harvard our instructor tortured the student’s brain just to understand all these things, about the meaning of the arts. But now I understand him.
It's hard to understand but easy to imagine.
