Upstead Oneshots

New York to Chicago

A/n: Hey guys! As you see I followed through with writing an upstead oneshot, be aware that this is my 1st oneshot and my first "romance", feel free to leave suggestions :)) I hope you enjoy!

Soo I totally forgot to give creds b4 BUT this chapter is inspired by CarlCo10 1st chapter and onechiiiiiiiiicago :))

It was 5:30 am and Hailey Upton turned around in bed and turned off the alarm ringing on her phone. It was a cold day in the city of New York City and she couldn't wait to get back to Chicago. Although working for the feds was fun, and gave her a much better pay, she couldn't leave Chicago, or Jay. After fighting the urge to fall back asleep she finally got out of bed and got herself ready, she thought of Jay who she would meet at the district, just the thought of him made her smile. Hailey had never said anything about her feelings for Jay but she knew he knew, and Jay knew she knew he knew. Her thoughts were interrupted by the buzzing of her phone. She unlocked it and looked at the messages Vanessa had sent her.

Vanessa: Hey Hailey see ya at the airport in 6 hours right?

Hailey: Yeah, if everything goes according to plan.

Hailey put her phone down and wnt into the kitchen to eat brekakfast. After eating a french toast she packed her things, left the apartment and headed to the airport. After a long flight from NYC to Chicago she was exhausted, at the same time she was excited knowing she'd see Vanessa and everyone else at the district again. She exited the aeroplane expecting to see Rojas at the arrivals pickup but instead there was a tall brunette man standing there. For Hailey it was an instant recognition, it was Jay. She looked into his sparkly green eyes as a smile grew wide on her face.

JAY'S POV:
Vanessa had asked Jay to pick up Hails earlier that day, she blamed it on paperwork. Vanessa definitely knew there was something between them, Rojas knows everything. Jay saw the smile on the blonde's face, "her beautiful smile", he thought for himself. The smile of the woman he loved, the woman he worked with every day without spilling a word about his feelings for her, he was so scared of confessing. How would she react? Maybe he'd be rejected, Maybe she didn't feel the same way about him. He didn't want to ruin their friendship that they had, had for years. A friendship built on trust and love.

GENERAL POV:
Hailey walked up to Jay feeling the joy and warmth spread throughout her body. She hugged him tightly, she didn't want to let go, but eventually she did. Jay felt the exact same way. He could feel Hailey's blonde curls against the back of his hands, gently he stroked her hair in a friendly way not wanting to make it awkward.

"Hey, what are you doing Here? Vanessa was supposed to pick me up", Hailey said regretting it as it sounded as tho she wasn't happy to see him.

"Well that's a nice welcome", Jay said jokingly while wondering for himself if she really meant it in a bad way

"Vanessa never told me you were coming to pick me up, I'm a little surprised. But happy ofcourse", the blue eyed blond said as she glared into the green eyes belong to the man right infront of her.

Jay couldn't take his eyes off of the woman infront of him. "She's crazy beautiful", he thought. Leaning closer as he felt his heart pounding in his chest. He looked at her lips as her eyes were focused on his. Hailey couldn't describe the feeling inside of her, even if she'd try to. The two leaned closer to each other.

The tension between the two of then were suddenly broken as a loud announcement was made on the speakers.

Jay and Hailey headed out of the airport, the freezing wind hit their faces. Although it was alot warmer in NYC Hailey missed the Chicago snow reflecting the sunlight. Hailey opened the back door of Jay's black pickup to throw in her backpack and carry on luggage. Both of them hopped into the front seats of the car, Hailey was seated on the passenger side. The ride was awkwardly quiet, "comfortable silence is so overrated", Hailey thought. Although the silence wasn't really comfortable.

Eventually Jay broke the silence by saying "Hey, you want to drop of your bags at your apartment before we head to the district or what are you feeling like?"

"Yeah sure, I'd like that",Hailey responded with a smile on her face.

After a 20 minute drive Both of them got out of the pickup as they were parked infront of Hailey's and Vanessa's building. Hailey opened the back door to get her bags, Jay offered taking the carry on as he could see how exhausted Hailey was.

"Thanks Jay", she said smiling

Jay smiled back without saying a word, although thousand of them were spinning around in his head. The two adults took the elevator up to the 8th floor where Rojas and Upton had an apartment. Hailey struggled to open the door but eventually she got it to work. They stepped inside as they took of their shoes.

"I'm just going to change out of this, I'm telling you wearing suits for 1.5 months straight. Not comfortable", Hailey said laughing, looking for Jay's response

"Poor Hails, gotta work for the feds, get payed a crap ton of money and having to wear suits", he responded with a grin on his face.

Hailey smiled, not only at his sarcastic response but the fact that he called her Hails. She loved it when he called her Hails. She headed to her room to change into a pair of mom jeans and a knitted sweater. When she came out of her room she found Jay wandering in her kitchen, ironically he was looking at her spices.

"What are you doing?", she asked interested

"You have a crap ton of spices Hails, are you a good cook?",Jay responded

There, he said it again, "hails", it made her so happy. Hailey tried not showing a reaction to Jay calling her Hails so she answered
"No they're just there for decoration, neither me or Rojas has any idea on how to make food. It usually ends up with Burgess having to come over with Mak, or some fast noodles"

Jay chuckled again, smiling at her.

He turned around to find the blond standing right infront of him, again. This time without any speaker announcements. There they were again, both looking into each other's eyes as they drifted to looking at each other's lips. "Her soft, beutiful lips", he thought. They leaned in closer as Hailey placed her hands on Jay's neck as he placed his hands on her waist. The two lovers who were so scared of confessing their love to each other were now kissing, feeling eatchothers soft lips against eatchother. Both of them could feel their heart pounding.

Hailey pulled away smiling as they were interrupted by Jay's buzzing phone. He picked it up and answered.

"That's Voight, he wants us to come to the district. There's a new case"

"Yeah sure, let's go", Hailey said as they headed to the hallway.

After a 10 minute ride they arrived at the district, heading up to intelligence. Rojas was sitting at her desk "whispering" LOVE BIRDS as Jay and Hailey sat down at their desks that were placed infront of eatchother.

"Hey, I thought you had full up doing paperwork", Jay said

Vanessa let out a small laugh "Jay, you really think I had paperwork to do? Get over yourself man", she said as she her eyes drifted to Hailey, who rolled her eyes.
