HAILEYS POV

Hailey was going for a jog in the Chicago winter. She could feel the cold air entering her lungs as her heartbeat was rising. "I should have listened to Kev, this sucks," she thought just as she was interrupted by a car crashing into the rail on the side of the bridge. The dark blue car went into the cold Chicago river. Hailey froze for a second but she snapped out. She jumped in after the vehicle neither thinking nor hesitating. The freezing water hit her skin as soon as she entered the river, Hailey couldn't feel her legs, feet, toes, arms, or her body at all for a matter of fact. Her instincts took over. The blue-eyed blonde dove towards the car wreck slowly moving its way towards the bottom.

Hailey managed to tear open the door on the right-hand side of the car, there was a brunette woman, she couldn't have been older than 16, and her left thigh was jammed in between the dashboard and the dirty gray passenger seat. The girl was terrified of her life, Hailey was able to get the girl out by causing just a tiny bruise on the girl. Hailey's arm wrapped around the girl's chest as they made it back to the surface, gasping for air the two females made it back to shore safely.

"Hey what's your name?" Hailey asked the girl.

The girl was blue, and her lips were slowly but safely turning pink again, she was fighting to stay conscious

"Mae", she answered.

There was a short moment of silence before Hailey answered, she had to come ut with a solution fast.

"Hey Mae, I'm a police officer. Take my phone and try to key it okay, it should work even though it's been in the water. I've gotta go back to get the guy"

Just as Hailey's head went underwater again the girl tried to speak but Hailey couldn't hear what she was saying and neither could she go back, she had to get the man out of the wreck. She looked around in panic not seeing the wreck while feeling her heartbeat slowing down, again she couldn't feel any part of her body. Finally, she caught a glimpse of the car slowly but surely sinking, she could feel her heartbeat slowing down while her body screamed for rest. Hailey decided against her body, swimming deeper into the cold Chicago river. She swam with all the power she had left trying to keep herself striving. The man in the car was unconscious and blue, Hailey took her index and middle finger and placed them on his neck, then his wrist, and then his neck again. Nothing, He was gone, she couldn't save him, and neither could she save herself as the lack of oxygen was taking over. Hailey lost consciousness as her body started sinking towards the bottom.

JAYS POV

It was currently 20:00 (8 pm) and Jay sat in his and Hailey's apartment waiting for Hailey to come home and have dinner with him. He was starting to get a bit worried since she called at 18 (6 pm) telling him she should be home in an hour, two hours had now passed. He took up his phone and dialed Hailey for the 8th time, just like the last 7 times it went straight to voicemail. Jay then figured to call Kev since he was the last person to be with Hailey up in the bullpen as they both had a bunch of paperwork that needed to be filled out. "Hey, Kev have you seen Hailey? She should have been home an hour ago, is she with you?", Jay asked concerned.

"I'm sorry Jay, the last time I saw Hailey was when both of us were leaving the precinct together, she was supposed to go for a half an hour run and then head home. Is everything okay?" Kevin responded
